Netscape address book sync

I tried doing my usual Netscape address book sync, which has been working for a while, but this time it says "Error reading Communicator address books." Netscape can read them. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Netscape-Palm sync utility provided by Netscape... doesn't work. I've tried setting the hotsync to 'computer overwrites handheld'... doesn't help. I haven't added any new profiles or anything. I did recently uninstall an old version of Netscape that was cluttering up the computer, but I don't know why that would affect anything. any ideas?
