im about to explode. Everybody keeps referring to my visor as an imitation or a palm clone. "why did you get that, palms are so much cooler." people are so misinformed. Why cant they just see the light.

When people ask what PDA you have, respond: "It's a Palm OS handheld called the Visor, by the guy who invented the Palm." Beyond that, there's not much else you can do except say, "Enjoy your Palm!"

We were at the theater the other night, and a guy in the row behind us was showing the lady next to us his Visor -- she had a Palm. I asked him what he had, and he said, "Oh, it's just a Palm knock-off." Grr. I don't think of mine that way -- I think of it as a Palm improvement! And it's a cool blue color, too!

I'm afraid that I refer to mine as a Palm clone. It's easier to get onto the next subject.

Perhaps someday there will be a generic term for them. We don't call PCs "PC clones" anymore...

We should all go and buy IBMs and mock those who only have IBM compatibles.

Skaman35,
"People of integrity expect to be believed, and when they're not they let time prove them right."
There are still people who think socialism is a viable form of government too. Let the sheep stay in the herd, and enjoy the fact that you are living in tomorrow and they're living in the past.
(This is an opinion and should not be seen as flame bait by any Palm using lurkers- if it offends you, sorry!)

Cool

And what's wrong with socialism? (You forgot to add "should not be seen as flame bait by PolSci majors or those living in Europe.)

I'm sure you mean communism, anyway. I've lived in France and Germany for the last 4 years (born in Delaware), and the worst problem I've had with such a socially oriented politic is how to get rid of my 30 vacation days a year. I still have 6 leftover from last year which I never use, since the bank uses flexitime, effectively adding 12 more vacation days. Hey, what good is a salary if you have no time to spend it?

Oops. I think I'm off-topic. I'd better stop before this thread gets lobbed in the "nothing to do with anything" bin.

When I tell people about my VDX, I tell them that it is a "PalmPilot clone" with extra features so they will quickly understand what it is. My wife still calls it a PalmPilot sometimes.

I like to inject a bit of postitive propaganda and refer to my Visor as an "improved Palm device".

When people ask me, I tell them that it's a Handspring Visor (or just refer to it as "My Visor") when they give me a quizzical look, I say.

"Just like a Palm Pilot, only better. . . "

GOTCHA . . . . . NUF said.
