Is it possible to change the icons and/or the names of applications?
If so... how?

There is a program called ChgAppName which allows you to change the name of applications.
Silver Screen has icon replacements for common programs and generic icons.
Some programs, like DateBk4 and Action Names, have icons which can be used in their programs. I'm not sure if they work outside the programs.
Someone recently posted ResEdit or something similar to color icons.
Good luck!

Following up on what purplemd said, you can also change the icons without SilverScreen. There is a hip little program out there called IcoEdit, by a company called Maple. I found it on tucows.com, in the PDAs..Palm OS..Hacks page, even though it isn't a hack. Happy IcoEditing!

Poor poor me... wish I had one of these...
Try this! I've just spent a couple of happy hours (sad but true) converting all my icons to colour on my Prism. Unlike Icoedit, there are no grids to help your creative side if you want to draw your own colour icons, but it's easy to copy the original and add colour.
Z'catalog will let you change app names, and there's a plug-in for Launch'Em that will let you do this more easily.
