Under Option | Preferences (in the launcher) "Remember Last Category" makes your PDA remember which category it was in last when you come back from another application. So let's say you were in the MAIN category in launcher and you have the Remember Cat checked, if you leave launcher to go to address book then press the launcher button again, you will be returned to the MAIN category. If you have the launcher option turned off (unchecked) then you would be returned to the ALL category in launcher.
As for your question about the address book, it has the same feature. If you check Remember last cat in the preferences, then you will be returned to the category you were last in. If it's unchecked, you will be returned to the ALL category.
