FTP issue with MemPlug-any ideas?
I have an issue that I need some help with, and I haven't seen it on VisorCentral. I'm hoping that someone else out there has attempted to do what I trying to do. (I apologize in advance for the lengthy post!)
Yesterday, I bought the MemPlug Smartmedia adapter at CompUSA. The reason: I want to upload .jpg images from an Olympus digital camera. The images are on the Smartmedia card, and with the help of the MemPlug, I want to take these images from my Visor and put them on my personal homepage. It appeared my best option was a program called VFSMail (Ver. 1.0.6) from www.ninelocks.com.
For the record, I have a Visor Deluxe (Palm OS 3.1H3.) In addition, I have HackMaster installed on my Visor. Before I started this attempt yesterday, I downloaded the newest version of the software for the MemPlug (V 1.67) to be sure to get the latest updates/fixes. In addition, I also got "PiVFSMgr.prc" from www.pitech.com. Since my VDX/Palm OS is older, it needs a helper application to access the MemPlug correctly. Also, I am using a Gomadic cable attached to my SprintPCS cell phone...which I use regularly with Eudora to remotely check my email.
When I set up everything for VFSMail and start the upload, it works fine for the most part but encounters difficulty toward the end of the process. I haven't been able to completely upload an entire .jpg image from the MemPlug to my web page. When the upload is reported as "done", the VDX freezes up completely. I have to perform a soft reset to get the Visor to work again. I have tried VFSMail with and without the hacks installed and I get the same incomplete upload and Visor freeze.
Any idea on what could be happening here? The typical size of the .jpg that I'm attempting to upload is ~60K. Could this problem be a product of the older OS on the VDX? I have exchanged a few email with Jon from ninelocks.com in an attempt to figure out the problem. He even sent me a new version of the software...but no luck as of this writing. I have also contacted my ISP to ask if they impose a file size limit when remotely uploading. (no reply yet)
Many thanks in advance for any help or assistance any of you can offer!
