I know there is still some question over people getting the visor. I know some people are cancelling, but I want find out what people were upgrading from/to.

If this is your first pda, please feel free to respond, as well.

I am upgrading from a Casio E-11 to a Blue Visor Deluxe.

I have a Palm III. My first pda was a Sharp Wizard, then another Wizard, then the Pilot 1000 (the first one they sold at J&R in Manhattan), then a Pilot 5000, then a PalmPilot Professional, then the III.

I would have bought the Razor (Palm V) but with only 2MB it didn't make sense to drop another $400+ on top of the III for a nicer casing. So I was planning on waiting until the 4MB Razor came out.

Luckily I had the choice of the 8MB Visor (and subsequently an 8MB Razor). My choice to go with Visor is mostly price, but I like the Springboard concept and figure that the upcoming color Palm OS devices, from both Palm & Handspring, will bail me out if the Visor ends up performing like Handspring's channels of distribution.

This was supposed to be my first PDA...however I am debating whether or not I should cancel and just wait for the next generation or pick up a Palm IIIx or V.

I am upgrading from a Pilot 5000 which still functions perfectly and is being used by my girlfriend. The Visor is a wondeful upgrade ... I'm very happy with the Ice case and the new buttons. I have loaded tons of apps and have only filled 2MB ... 8MB provides TONS of growing space!

Add me to the list of Zaurus users. The odd thing is... I can enter data MUCH faster in the Zaurus then the Visor.

I just like the expandability of the Visor.

I'm moving from a Dayrunner paper system to the Deluxe Ice. Since I work in the IT industry I figured it's time to be digitally organized.

I'm upgrading from a PalmPilot Pro. Got it two years ago, when I canned my Franklin classic. Great machine, but is getting blown out regularly with all my stuff. Visor Dlx, when it gets here, will be a very welcome replacement.

Started with a HP 200LX, went to a Psion Series 5 (8MB), added a 40MB CF, switched to a Palm III when they first came out, currently at IIIx w/FlashPro and waiting as patiently as I can for my Graphite Visor Deluxe (originally ordered graphite, switched to ice, then chickened out and switched back to graphite... the business angle... you know)

Upgraded from a dead Pilot 1000, for a while I had reversed to a day timer and I thaught I just looked like a Jehova's witness with my leather book...I was waiting for the new PDA qualcomm phone since I also needed to upgrade my PCS phone but opted for a Visor Blue and seprate phone (going for the Nokia 8800, its out in two weeks, can't wait).

Upgrading from a Nino 320 and the dreaded WinCE. It's actually not bad, but I found all the options that they hyped (voice recorder, drag-n-drop word documents, voice recognition etc.) to be ones I didn't use after the novelty wore off. And it's too large. I was going to get a Palm V, but I like the springboard idea and the 8 MB, and am looking forward to a MP3 springboard. I can wait if I have to... I figure in a few weeks all this will pass and we'll be complaining about springboards being delayed... :>

PalmV

I wanted more memory and a voice recorder plus other "toys" and "games". I will sacrifice size of the PalmV for functionality of the Springboard/Visor tech.

The PalmV is already promised to a co-worker.

I'm upgrading from a Sharp Wizard. Like someone has mentioned previously, I can enter information much faster in my Wizard than I will be able to with the Visor, unless I get a GoType keyboard.

Expandibility was one selling point. The other is the bad luck I've had with Wizard hardware failues. The screen on my Wizard has 2 verticle lines which have 'lost' power (i.e., no black pixels appear on those lines). Something tells me the design of the Wizard is at fault.

Once I receive my visor (if they only shipped it last week, then I could have taken it to europe myself.....now I have to wait even longer..) I will be upgrading from a Royal davinci to the Blue VD
