I just upgraded to MacOS 9.0.1. I then ran the Palm Desktop Installer
2.6.1 program to reinstall the software and set the user to my Visor
name and the port to Handspring USB. Next I restart. But then when I
put my Visor in the cradle and press the Sync button I get a message
that "the USB software for this device is not installed do you want
to find it on the web?" I press okay and it connects to the web (I
have a full-time connection) and looks for the software and then
comes back and says "it could not be found, contact the manufacturer
of the device." So, what gives? I don't understand why the installer
isn't installing the software properly under MacOS 9.1. Help!

In my System Extensions folder I see the following files:

Instant Palm Desktop
PalmConnect USBSerialHAL
PalmConnect USBSerialShim
PalmConnect USB

I have tried eliminating prefs, soft and hard resets of the Visor
(backed up already).

This is on a PowerBook G3 2000 with 256MB free HD space and 256MB RAM

Note that I have no other 3rd party extensions installed so it isn't
an extension conflict. It seems rather that something is missing but
I can't get it to install.

Ideas?

-Walter
