Unfortunately, these are not available yet. HS support still insists that they will be available "by the end of March 2000".

I just hope that this is not some sick April fools joke on the part of HS.

Handspring kept their word, as of today, you can download the new USB driver at the Handspring website!

So I downloaded the new Windows 2000 USB drivers for my Handspring Visor Dlx and I un-install completely the old Palm desktop, dis-connect my serial cradle, plug in my USB cradle, reboot, install the new drivers and now I still cannot get the Visor to HotSync! When I press the button to HotSync Windows 2000 detects the device and prompts me for the drivers. I cannot find the INF driver file ANYWHERE in the distribution from Handspring (newest drivers) or in my INF folder. Any ideas? Tried dis-connecting and re-connecting my USB cradle to the two different USB ports, still no go.

Troy, the problem your having is caused buy the fact that the actuall USB drivers are located on the visor itself, there a few possible fixes first, try doing a soft reset on the visor, second, check the condiute settings in the hot-sync manager (located at the bottom right hand corrner of the screen) and make sure that system is set to haldheld overrights desktop, if this does not work then try going into regedit and go to the following directory HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurentControlSet/Enum/USB/ and delete the key starting with vid_082d& actually, if that doesnt work the just delete every key in there and windows reboots it should (hopefully) find all the right drivers for everything tell us how it goes

Thanks for responding to my message on VisorCentral. Tonight (before I got you message) I formatted my computer and re-installed Windows 2000 (needed it anyway) and installed Office 2000 (as I use Outlook 2000). I then installed the Palm desktop software from Handspring and attempted to do a HotSync. When did Windows 2000 found the Visor and then prompted me for the drivers. I had it search the computer but it could not find the INF file for the Visor. I made sure that the settings in the HotSync manager are set to allow the handheld to override the desktop and I even did a soft-reset of the unit. I attempted to delete the registry key that you pointed out but it would not allow me to do so (I'm part of the administrators group on this machine so I have the rights). I have a second machine that has Windows 2000 installed on it and I am able to HotSync with that machine, no problems! Very strange!!!!

Any other ideas? Do you have an .INF file for your Visor on your Windows 2000 machine?

Got it, I was doing a customized install. I went back and did a full install then did a HotSync and it worked. For some reason the customized installed (w/o Palm Desktop as I use Outlook 2000) would not create a "Drivers" folder under C:\PROGRAM FILES\PALM like the full install does. Now it works fine!

I downloaded the "beta" driver a week and a half ago when the URL was posted (sorry, HS, didn't know I wasn't supposed to but then, I didn't post the link). Anyhow, everything's been working fine.

Is there any incremental benefit of downloading the "official" W2K version and installing it over the beta? Can any of the beta testers comment on this?

Thanks
