Question

Is there some different technique or secret to hotsyncing with the cable instead of the cradle? The wire on my cradle was cut last week and I couldn't find a USB cradle anywhere, so I bought a cable. I plug it in, tap on the Local Sync icon (since there's no button to push)and.... nothing. Had no (real) syncing problems before. I tried this on my home PC as well as in the office, and no luck.

Was your cradle USB or serial? If it was serial, then the problem is that the hotsync manager on your PC is probably setup wrong. If your cradle was the standard USB, then that's a bit more of a puzzler. Try soft reseting your visor. That may help. You might also want to check the settings in the hotsync manager to ensure that they didn't get changed or something to that effect.

Talking Fixed the cable problem

Yup, it was the old standby: a soft re-set fixed the problem. It's been so long since I've had to do it that I'd forgotten.
