Exclamation

If you are referring to the Innodrive/MS discussion, Innogear had already preannounced and showed a prototype demo of the module. VisorCentral had an interview with some one from Innogear ( http://www.visorcentral.com/page/0-4-63-1-4.htm ) who talked up both a Innodrive/MS and Innodrive/MMC and showed them off. From the article: "The InnoDrive will be released in late Q1/early Q2 2001, and what we can guarantee right now is file storage and the ability to run your applications off the memory stick."

So the anger isn't about the them not pre-announcing, it is about them pre-announcing AND DEMOING another product that has apparently turned into vaporware.

Exclamation Wrong info!

First it's "No InnoDrive" ..... Wrong info... just bashing!
Then its "InnoGear shares Info" yeh right, InnoGear does NOT share info... just bashing! So what next? I would recommend you do better research before bashing...

Sassy--

I'm confused. Basically the only things in your posts are defenses of InnoGear, except for the couple where you promote the Minijam...

Wait a minute, who makes minijam...?

How come you like this company so much?

I received an email from InnoGear about the InnoDrive, and basically InnoGear is not going to comment on upcoming products until they are ready to do so. If you ask them about a product that they don't have on their products page, they may deny knowledge about it until they are ready to do so.

InnoGear has been burned before for announcing things too soon, and they are trying to keep from doing that again.

When InnoGear is ready for formal announcements, you can bet that we will be reporting on them.

Question Non-factual?

Sassy,
I wouldn't say it was non-factual. On the Innodrive, two different people called and were told that the Innodrive was not one of Innogear's products. Seems to me that Innogear should be a good source of information on their products to me. Thanks to VisorCentral, we now know that the people answering the phones didn't know, either through poor internal communication or because Innogear doesn't give them information on non-shipping products. (fair enough)

On the sharing information topic: We have at least two different occasions on which customer information was exposed on the web on two different occasions (which were seperated by signifigant periods of time I might add) which, on one occasion, included credit card information. Now, I don't think they did it on purpose, but it does bring into question the integrity of their server setup, and how seriously they take their security. I, for one, would not want my customer information exposed on the web. I agree that some jumped on these topics as an excuse to bash, but then, you've done that here too.

I posted to help give an explanation as to why some people were upset at the apparent cancellation of the Innodrive. Note that I say apparent, as I did in my post, as we had not heard official word from Innogear on the subject. I used the word "apparent" for that exact reason. I gave Innogear the benefit of doubt. I agree some people used these topics as an excuse to "pile on," but, based on their personal experiences with Innogear, they may have every reason to do so. This was my first post on either topic, and you immediately classified me as a "basher" without fully reading my post or doing your research. I would ask that before you bash some one for bashing, please make sure you have your facts straight. And then, think about whether or not it is worth it. Thanks.

Can't we all just get along

All you guys should just stop picking on SassyVisorBabe! Shes right, the boards have been flooded with InnoGear hate mail! Infact thats the only topic I see these days, just dozens and dozens of personal attacks on Innogear. Why just yesterday I came to the board and even the little banner was saying Innogear sucks. I think an administrator has to step in and close the hundreds of posts that are making this board "out of control"

I gotta say - I love the banner. I hadn't seen it before, but I love it.

You have to put the anti-Innogear sentiment in context. They announced the six-pak around the same time the Visor first came out. It was the holy grail of modules. Many of us (including yours truly) purchased their Visor in part in anticipation of getting the sixpak, which would have turned the thing into the swiss army knife of PDAs.

Instead, the deadline kept slipping, and slipping and slipping. Excuses were offered, new ones developed, promises were made and not kept. I'm pretty sure they out-and-out lied about some things.

Add that to the features promised but still missing from the mini-jam, and you have a pretty decent ground for disliking the company.

I agree that some of the anti-innogear stuff is a little over the top - for example suing the company seems like a bad idea to me. But lots of folks have a good and sound reason to think badly of this company, and they are free to express their views on this board.

Just my two cents.

Okay, I don't know how many of you saw the banner but I took it down per a request from Innogear since I used their logo, which I should have realised I should not have done in the first place (Stupid on my part).

Thumbs up sassy is right!

I am a former innogear basher and a current minijam user and lover! The only mistake they made was releasing the minijam product news too soon, and now when they try hard to play by the rules you guys bash them?? I found their software and hardware techs really care about the customers, the products, and their image as a company.I have nothing but good things to say about innogear and will buy any future produts they make! They work great and their support has been a++. STOP BASHING AND START JAMMING!!

I wonder

I wonder if Christine Fullerton = SassyVisorBabe? SassyVisorBabe is obviously working for Innogear. She always post whenever Innogear's name is being bashed and is always defending them.

Personally, I am sitting on the fence with this whole issue with Innogear..I think they suck for letting so many people down... but everyone and every company makes mistakes. I am sure that they will learn from this debacle. I am looking forward to purchase their new products in the future.

If InnoGear could put half the effort into product development that they have apparently put into legal posturing, maybe they wouldn't be in this jam!

Smile I think it's time we start helping....

All I can say is they have been nice and very helpful to me all the times I have contacted them. (No I don't work for them either). I really have no major negative complaints other than to have some of the additional features of my minijam come forth (i.e. Palm Files on the MMC , blinking the MiniJam's LED on alarms, etc.).. I know they are working on it, so I am not going to get to upset, it would be nice however to see more frequent updates of the firmware with these new features added in..

I generally agree the bashing should really stop..

It's not very productive.. I propose that folks help suggest ways Innogear could improve things (IN A POSITIVE, CONSTRUCTIVE WAY, NOT IN A BASHING TONE).. There are alot of very intelligent and creative people who read this board, and I think we can come up with a lot of good suggestions on how they can improve things. (real suggestions, not sarcastic ones). Taking down a company that makes products for the Visor is not good for our community. If nothing else, a yet unannounced company, or a big name company may see all this bashing, fighting and bickering and decide to stay away from the Visor and develop their products for WinCE machines or "true" Palms. Also, all this bickering could drive away potential Visor customers. We should help these companies where they need it.. There is a lot of brain power here, let's try to use it for good purposes. It's far too easy to bash someone then to help them.. Innogear was the first "Big" visor company and unfortunately they paid the price of being first, I am sure other companies have learned from the horror that Innogear has had to go through on these boards. Are they perfect, no, did they make mistakes, yes, did people complain, yes, now lets move on shall we?

I'd like to site GEODISCOVERY.COM as a good example of how to work with the user community.

Maybe if we all constructively give (real) positive feed back, They will be able to improve things (I think we have heard enough negative now). I think in the end we would all benefit.

Hello? Anybody home? If a company demos a product at a trade show I would consider that 'announced'.

Orion, I think you mis-read my post, I was talking about companies when I was referring to "unannounced" , not products.. I.E. A new company that you haven't heard of yet (you know, just getting started).. "unannounced" Has nothing to do with trade shows or Innogear..

Please re-read it again more carefully.. Thanks..

Exactly.

They're prob. so feverish on the legal side now, because due to their malevolent practices, they've been forced to hire them -- when they could have simply focused on trying to make good products and communicating honestly from the start.

They deserve every bit of hell we give them.

I don't know about everyone else but I am getting tired of the "bash (insert evil company name here)" threads, I honestly don't even really read most of them now.. When I see it's one I usually skip it.. They are ok for a while so you can vent your spleen, but at what point do they stop severing any useful purpose and just degrade into high-tech name calling?
