setting date !!!!

is there another way apart from prefences to set the date ?
i keep crashing my delux if i do it that way !

You have some software conflict if you can't set the date with Preferences. Either find the offending app/database and delete it or do a Warm Reset. If that doesn't work do a Hard Reset.
