I've only had my VisorDX for about a week and I've noticed that the screen is a bit coarse. It feels like writing on cardboard or with a very sharp pencil. I've tried my stylus on my friend's Palm Pro and it felt fine and I've tried his stylus on my VisorDX and it feels weird. If I write very lightly, I don't experience it, but under normal pressure, it just doesn't feel right. Anyone else notice this?

Yes.. and I've found a very simple solution.

I noticed that writing in the grafitti area was really rough.. So just take your finger and smudge it a bit (You won't be bothered by it since it's not viewable). The oil will create a pretty smooth writing area.

It may not be a permanent solution, but it's fast, free, and easy to do.

even better, take a small piece of clear tape and cut it to fit the grafitti area. then try writing on that...nice, smooth and cushy...protects the surface and you can replace it every few weeks...

That was the first thing I noticed to when using the device. I've been reading a little bit on dejanews. My Visor also has the "soft glass." The screen has "give" unlike my previous Vx's glass hard screen.

I just cleaned my screen with some eyeglass cleaner (VisaClean brand) and now it's nice and smooth. Don't know what was causing the roughness, but it's gone now.

I am glad some one said something about this. Thought I was going crazy. Every time I write it feels like I am scratching the silk screen.

Maybe theres something on the screen and thats what the cleaner took off.

I'm betting that there's just something on the screens when they're manufactured that causes this. It'll wear off after time. My trackball was the same way. It was very difficult to use at first but the manual said that the oil from your hands would loosen it up. It works great now. I'm hoping something similar will happen with my Visor. I may try the tape solution too though.

Anyone had a Palm long enough to actually damage the screen by writing too much on it?

My screen is "soft" as well. If I look closely, I can see the screen surface deform a little when I press on it lightly. It seems like the membrane isn't quite snug against the glass. Is this normal? Will the membrane shrink over time?

Try using a graffiti area sized piece of the Scotch tape that comes in a Blue box (If I remember right the number of the product is 501). Writing on the tape feels like writing on paper and you can stop worrying about scratching the graffiti area. I personally use a WriteRight to protect the whole screen and a piece of the "Blue box Scotch tape" over the graffiti area.
