Are you using AOL? I had the same problem and I think it has to do with AOL. I work around it by logging on first and hotsyncing while online. I went into hotsync manager>custom and selected mobilelink to "do nothing" as default. That way I don't get that error every time I hotsync. When I want to download from Avantgo, I just select mobilelink to download on the next hotsync, log on, and then hotsync. If I hotsync again during the same day, I am already defaulted in mobilelink to do nothing and I don't get the error. Hope this helps.
