Cool

I seem to have been keeping a watch on this site to see when it goes live (as some of y'all probably are)

Right now it has an under construction message.

I wonder ... who'll be the first to post when it comes online

That's just the network solutions placeholder page. A site might never exist there; Handspring could have just grabbed it to prevent someone else from woning it.

Question

What makes you think Handspring even picked up this address? Check out visor.com, it has nothing to do with PDAs. Unless we're in for some REALLY funky springboard modules.

Not that everyone on this site isn't anxious!

Doing a whois on visor.net reveals that it does actually belong to Handspring. Though that doesn't mean they're necessarily going to do anything with it. (visor.com and visor.org are taken by other people.)

Cool

Anxious might be an understatement

The information control at Handspring has been effective - working up a frenzy in future Visor owners. I (and a number of folks out there) are jumping at any news snippet that has the word Visor or Handspring in it.

Imagine ... if they were going to be available via retail outlets ... I am picturing 12 midnight queues with parties in the parking lot.

Question

I find the use of the word anxious a little odd since - unless you really want to play Tiger Woods Golf - we all know what it is going to do. We have some of the very prototypes for the Visor in our hands right now (Palms that is). All in all the company is exciting but I would have to say without many springboards released the product is only so-so on the excitment level, definitly a lot of potential though.

I wonder as well if the information control has actually hurt Handspring/Visor since we now have a lot of time to figure out what is wrong (No Flash OS, cover sucks, etc.) before many people actually fork over money for them.

Just a thought,

jonpod

Well we might not all have Palms already
This will be my first PDA. I was set to buy a IIIx but caught some early reports of the Visor. I was pretty excited to see I could get a fully-compatible Palm OS device with twice the memory for cheaper. (not to mention the nicer screen)
I had been pretty pumped about the IIIx and I could of bought it immediately, now with all this waiting, it's like being a damn kid again waiting for Santa (I was starting to think that the Visor was as much vapourware as Santa...)
Still anxiously awaiting my visor deluxe,
Brendan.

Yes, I think everyone on this list (including myself) who has pre-ordered is very excited about getting their new techno "toy." And I consider myself definately among them...in fact, I was absolutely thrilled to find a book on Palm programming at Daltons this afternoon so I can read up on how to "code" to this thing!! Indeed, in another topic people are posting any new pix they can find of the unit. I think this anticipation is half the fun for technofiles like ourselves!
