GPS redirection
I think this is the best place to post (unless it turns into a programming problem, in which case I'd best dust of my C tutorial)...
I've got a Deluxe and the Magellan GPS Companion. It's a neat solution, but at some stage, I'll probably want to look at maps in colour.
That means either an upgrade to a colour PalmOS device, or adding GPS to a laptop running something like Route 66.
Frankly, I'm not inclined to upgrade to a Visor Prism; I'd like something a little more modern. Anyway, in the meantime, I was wondering...
I know the Springboard has its own serial connection, which is distinct from the cradle... so what I'm wondering is if there is a piece of software (or if I have to get to grips with PalmOS and write it myself) that can read the data from the GPS and either divert it to the cradle serial port, or duplicate it, so that it's sent both to the cradle and the app on the Visor. Effectively, it would allow the Visor with GPS module to be used as an external GPS by linking to another device via serial.
Anyone know if I can find something to do this? I would imagine it's not too hard a programming task, but I'd rather not re-invent the wheel.
Nigel.
