IR Linking Visor DeLuxe and Motorola Mobile L7089

Can anyone help me with a problem?
I have installed IrLink and Multimail on my Visor Deluxe and am trying to link using the IR port to the mobile.

It should work but it does not do so. All I get on the Visor is a message saying "No IRDA compliant device found and the IR port on the mobile does not activate.

Any ideas please?

I've had some problems with this (I can't get a connection speed higher than 300bps), probably due to the Visor sending some extra AT-commands while connecting.

My set up is:
- IrLink v1.5, mixed setup: network set to 'ask me' (so I can choose between IR or my landline modem)
- PalmOS 3.1H3
- OS IR addons installed as per IrLink instructions
- System preferences:
+ Modem: Custom, 57600bps, low, automatic, other, AT&CBST=71,0,1, TouchTone
+ Network: set up for my ISP, yours will probably be different
+ General: Beam Receive: Off
- point IR window on side of Visor at IR window on top of phone, activate IR on phone. Avoid bright sunlight, this stops the IR link working.

Then you should be able to hit 'Connect' on the network prefs panel and get a connection to your ISP.

If this doesn't work try downloading GSMtool (www.gsmtool.com), it has a built in terminal program so you can try sending 'ATI' to your phone (you should get '960' in response). It's also very useful for syncing names and numbers and sending SMS messages.

Hope this helps,
Kev.

Thanks for your help.

I will study this carefully and see if I can solve it.

On the face of it I cannot see any real differences (except bright light). Will try again and let you know how I get on.

I have checked my setup and it is exactly the same as yours. I have tried it virtually in the dark and it still does not work.

I notice that you said "- OS IR addons installed as per IrLink instructions".
However there are strict instructions that there is only one file that must be used. "SerlrCommLibrary".
Is this correct? should there be more than this?

Thanks

Peter

Thanks for the further reply.

Then this is a real mystery. Maybe there is something wrong with the mobile, but then my wife has exactly the same phone and it wont work with hers either.

I will download the system that you mentioned unless you have other ideas?

Thanks

Peter
