Anyone have an Edge die?

I had an odd experience this morning: I called a taxi on my Visorphone, and when I arrived at my destination my Edge no longer turned on.

Resetting it didn't work, and it was not drawing power from the cradle, so I called for a replacement.

I've never seen anything like that happen before, I was wondering if anyone else had.

I also had my Edge die shortly after a call with the VisorPhone. I had to hard reset to get any life back to my unit. I exchanged it at BestBuy for a new one. I can only guess it was hack related.

Tech Support

Interesting. Tech Support had me try a hard reset -- it didn't help, unfortunately, so I got a new Edge shipped to me.

That's as should be.

I have had 2 Edge's die on me. In both cases it seemed to be an issue with the battery draining and losing the ability to recharge. Handspring has sent me another Edge each time that they have died. The Edge that I have now (my 3rd one) has been working fine.

Something Else

My failure was different -- the battery was charged, and was reading full when the machine finally up and died. Very weird.

Well the first one that died on me locked up after a hard reset at the calibrate the stylus screen. It would alternate between the first two calibration positions and it would do nothing else. Not even a hard reset helped. The next day it would not even turn on.

Interesting.

By any chance, was the battery indicator still full when it finally died?

Yes it was. I had only had it 3 days when this happened. Most of that time it spent sitting on the charger since I was hot syncing programs to it etc. Handspring must have realized this because when I called Customer Support, they didn't even question the return. It was as if they expected it to be sent back.
