I've had my VDx for one week and love it! The one problem I'm having is beaming. I have no trouble receiving even large files from other PDAs but about 5 sec after I start beaming to someone else I get a "beam interrupted" message. I've tried new batteries, deleting Afterburner (heard that could cause a problem), a soft and hard reset, and every possible distance and angle from other PDA's. Any thoughts?... or do I have a bum unit that will have to go back to Handspring (which would be a major bummer!).

P.S. I was able to beam my business card successfully one time, as the "beam interupted" message showed up on my Visor at the same time the "Accept Business Card" showed up on my friend's PalmIII.

I have the very same problem. The VD I have now is a replacement from HS (the buttons on the first one worked intermittently). The first VD did not seem to have the beaming problem, however, the replacement does. I don't beam much so I live with it, however, it is frustrating that the unit's full functionality doesn't seem to be there.

I'm having the same problems you describe, but the really curious thing is that it only started happening about a week ago. Prior to that I had no problems beaming to other visors and a variety of palm devices. I've eliminated all the usual suspects hacks or new programs - still get the beam interrupted message.

Considered calling to see about a replacement unit but if they are sending out units that don't beam - I don't need that hassle. The unit I have now is already a 2nd replacement unit.

I just want one that works as advertised.

I was having the same problems, didn't think I used to, but they happened to start when I tried to beam some stuff last week.

What launcher do you use? I use Launcher III and when I tried to beam from it, I got the interrupted. The other PDA knew I was trying to beam something, it just didn't want to work.

If I try to beam through the regular application (By going into the beam menu, similar to the info and delete listing) I had no problem. Also, beaming with beambox didn't have a problem either.

If neither of those work I have no idea how to help you

I'm not using a 3rd party launcher. But thanks for your input. Maybe I'll try beambox.

Question

Could this problem between Visor & Palm series? I have no problem beaming to another Visor, but couldn' beam to Palm VII.

BTW another app that enable Visor/Palm to beam hacks & DA's is B4DAH. Unlike BeamBox,
the other person does not have to have BeamBox. Also it's free.

I'm using Launcher III - have used it from the start when I was not having any problems with beaming.

I've used Beambox and Beamware. With Beamware the receiver doesn't need Beamware. If someone has beambox I try that neither app is working.

I'm able to beam address book entries but that all.

Lightbulb

I saw another thread somewhere on Visorcentral that the IR is sensitive to a lot of vibration/shock. I don't know if any of you who are having problems with your beaming (mine beams fine) have dropped your visors or if they've been subject to vibration.

Just a thought.

I bought mine last week and the IR has never worked. All it does is respond that it's receiving a signal, then never actual;ly recives anything. When I try to send a beam, it can't see the other advice.

I have already called Handspring and a replcement is on the way.
