What percentage of time are you using a module with your Visor? I keep a module at all times inside my VPR on principle, but I use a module only sporadically.

How about you? How much do you use your Springboard modules?

Since I own a ThinModem+ I always leave it in and am constantly using programs stored in its memory.

I guess the reality is that I just don't use what I have (Springport Modem, Thinmodem, Backup Module, FlashAdapter) very often. Even the Backup module only gets used once or twice a week, if that, since I sync on 2 machines at least once a day each during the week.

I'm essentially using my VDx mainly as a PIM when you come right down to it.

Hmm...if I have a VisorPhone turned on, is that 'using' my module? It is, after all, active and waiting to receive calls and SMS messages. If we count that as a valid use, then I have to say close to 100% (the only time it's not in my visor is when I'm using a different module, like my eyemod2 or omniremote)

I use the backup module after each daily hotsync, I use my Minstrel S many times during the day, the Geode every few days (when I am on the road).. MiniJam a few times a week.

100% of the time.

I have an InnoPak 2v that I have in the slot like 85% of the time. I use the InnoPak for extra memory (I have most of my games and some read-only docs loaded in it) and intermitently for the vibrating alarm feature - mainly if I'm going to be in the courtroom. I'm toying with switching to an 8mb module (I could use the extra memory), but I'd miss the silent alarm feature.

The only time the InnoPak comes out is if I'm using one of my other modules - the Backup module (couple of times a week or more), the Minstrel (once or twice a week), the SpringPort (since I got the Minstrel, pretty much only when I'm travelling, to remote synch with AvantGo), the GPS compainion (as needed - once a week or so) or, once in a blue moon, the eyeModule - usually only around holidays for snapshots.

In short, I'd miss the functionality of having a built-in true springboard, probably why I won't switch from my Prism to the Edge - cool as it looks. Besides, I'd miss the color.

99.9% of the time
I use my minstrel s everyday, InnoPocket CF Adapter when i need to copy my dictionary or thesaurus database. I use backup module once or twice a day.

I use the backup module twice a day, in the afternoon and at night. Then, I keep my InnoPak 2V or my Franklin dictionary in. At other times, I keep my Eyemodule 2 inserted just in case I see something nice that I want to share with my family or friends. Also, for the eyecontact.

100%. I either have my Innopak 2/V (mostly for the vibrating alarm, partially for the extra memory) in or my backup module when I backup (about weekly).

I really wish Handspring or Palm would add a vibrating alarm to one of their devices. I can't stand people with cellphones who can't be bothered to use silent ringers in theaters, restaurants, etc.

If the Edge had a built in vibrating alarm, I'd probably order one tomorrow. I think it'd just be too clunky trying to use an Innopak 2/V with an Edge so I'll see what the new Palm series brings.

like Mark, i've been using my VDx as a PIM and a database holder for work (MobileDB or ThinkDB). Otherwise, i only use my modem when travelling (every 3 or 4 months!) and my back-up module once every week or 2.


I've come to realize lately that my VDx is being used for more 'practical' reasons and a lot less for stuff like Mapopolis/games/StarPilot functions.

I leave my backup module in all the time. I guess that means if my Visor is stolen (NO!), BOTH copies of my data are gone..

I wish I had MORE modules though..

It depends on what the meaning of "use" is...

I keep a compact flash adapter in the Springboard slot and I have several files there that I may need only every so often, but that I want to still cary with me. I don't use them all that often so the module just sits there. Before this I used the 2MB of flash that came with my Innogear 2V and its vibrating alert all the time (I agree that this should be standard in a future Visor). I'm debating about replacing all of my various remotes with an Omniremote module that I would use a lot when home.

An 8mb Flash Module is always in the Springboard slot, unless I'm using the Backup Module. The Flash is constantly used, as I have a lot of my applications on it.

I keep the 16Meg module in all the time. I also use the Minstrel S modem daily, backup module daily, and a MiniJam occassinally. But to answer the question, 100% of the time due to using programs off the memory module to keep space available for the pictures taken with an eyemodule2.

I use a module all of the time.

I have:

1. The Handspring 8MB module -- I leave it in the Visor all the time, unless I am using the modem or something.

2. Thinmodem -- every two days or so, to browse and check email.

3. Backup module -- once a week.

After some minor disasters I now back up to my module twice a day. I keep my 8mb in all the time and am constantly pulling up reference material. I keep BigClock, Peanut Reader, and lotsa docs on my module.
