Why Does My Visorphone Shut Itself OFF?

It also doesn't pickup Voicestream if it is turned on in a dead zone and later moved into the open. What gives? Is this normal? Can I fix it?
This is very annoying since I have a lock on my SIM card, and have to punch it in EVERYTIME! I have to reset it about 8 times a day! I'm not kidding!

I've already done it FIVE TIMES so far today!

Thanks for all your help and commiseration. If this is normal, I may return it.
