My Approach
Hi,
There are many ways to approach this depending if you have a PC or a Mac.
I have a Mac this is what I do:
I have Avantgo a free offline or online browser for the palm that includes a conduit to recieve content off of the web. You can get a free account at www.avantgo.com pick your channels or create your own. It is the best!! Visorcentral even has a channel. Whenever you sync your palm if you have dial up dial up first and get on the internet before doing so, if you are always connected to the internet just sync and updated content will be put on your palm with very little effort on your part. This solution works for both PC and Mac.
Another alternative is to download isilo a viewer that comes in two flavors. Free and shareware. The free one is a barebones reader that lets you read text from many sources. The shareware version includes in some versions color images, tables, formatted text, different fonts, links etc. It includes a free parser for PC or Mac that you can download on www.isilo.com. You have to manually convert the sites that you want to be able to view them on your palm but it is pretty easy. With IsiloX the converter you can set up channels that you put in manually and save the list. Whenever you want to sync up new content you run IsiloX and hit the convert all button on the toolbar, sync and you are done. Isilo also converts doc files and html files. The size of the doc file converted to isilo is about a third smaller then doc.
The last alternative which I am not that familiar with because of my Mac :-P is free and is called Plucker which includes a command line converter and has all of the features of Isilo but is free. It takes some getting used to though.
I hope that helped.
