Question Age

Reading the meandering thread on Handspring returns which lead to the delightful avatar with the old 45 converter made me begin to wonder. Some of the young'ns have given away their ages when talking about their parents paying for their accounts, or being in high school...but what kind of age ranges do we have around here? I'm 44...is that old or average for a Treo type?

42... with a 3 yr old Ice VDx. In relative terms, I guess my Visor is as old as me!

I'm 33 1/3, and I don't need no stinkin' adapter!

I may win the prize for age here: 48

- started in the pda world with a Psion 3a, used with a portable modem to log on to a mainframe to get email
- next a palm, eventually with a omnisky slap on
- then a blackberry
- now a treo 300....

Overall, this stuff just gets better and better, though the psion was way ahead of its time, and in many ways still is...

I'm 53 and first posted to an e-list from an Apple Newton. This is a lot more fun.

Oh this is fun! And I can't resist the urge to throw in my favorite nerdly line "my first computer was a Timex Sinclair." So there you commie users who think you were first!

First computer was a 286 with a whopping 1 MB of RAM!!! And I upgraded from a 20 MB HD to a 40 MB drive! Wow, I told myself, I'll never even use 20 MB, much less 40!!!

You remember how much you paid for that 40 MB drive? You can buy 80 gig today for less than what we paid for 20 MG back then.....

I don't remember how much the drive itself was, but I remember the price of that PC: right around 2 big ones! Amazing what a lot less than 2 grand will get you today...

Talking so there!

My first computer was a Sharp Elsi Mate. and I still use it. Since 1979.
It's smaller than any PDA on the market, even if it can't do as much, and its rechargeable battery will last forever!

37. Does an Atari 2600 video game with the BASIC module and keyboard count as a computer? (At the time my parents tried to convince me that it did.) If not, then a TRS80.

25.

1st household computer was an Apple IIc. First computer I bought myself, Apple Newton 130. What a brick, but what an OS too. Sold it to help fund the Treo.

Atari 400. Not the Atari 800, mind you. This one had the flat plastic keyboard--until my dad and I installed the new one. (There's more memory on my MMC card.)

32 (for another month, then I'm a third of a century), and my first computer was a C64, IIRC. There was also an Apple IIc in the house.
