Question Franklin Planner w/visor deluxe need v3.5 help?

Hi I just purchased the Franklin Planner Software for my visor deluxe. Everything but the appointment schedule works. Everytime I click on the icon it says it require v3.5 for use.
Has visor deluxe come up with a v3.5? If not, is there a 3rd party software that I can use?

Thanks
Lyd

No, the Deluxe uses OS v3.1 and is not upgradeable to 3.5.

Has visor deluxe come up with a v3.5?

I was afraid of that...well now I'm really in a bind, I love the deluxe but was unsure to upgrade since Handspring's annoucement.

Upgrading to a prism would be great but what happens if the same situation occurs, I purchase a software than can't be used with the prism.

I was thinking of a pocket pc but don't know wear to begin.

Any ideas with the visor prism?

None of the Visor handhelds are able to have the OS upgraded. If and when they ever release another model, my guess is it would also be non-upgradeable (one of the critical drawbacks of the Visor line). That said, all of the models (Prism, Platinum, Edge, Neo, and Pro) released after the Deluxe have OS v3.5.

Evaluate...

My aunt has a Palm that came with the Franlkin Package. The Franklin dayplanner software is better than the Date Book that comes standard with the Palm OS, but virtually identical to Schedule Plus that is packaged with the Visor. Lots of people don't take the time to see how much better Date Book Plus is compared to plain old Date Book.

Unhappy

Hi

Yes your right the datebook + is great but I figured since I brought the software I should have been able to use it all and not be limited.

I called Franklin and they basically told me the same thing...I just feel cheated since I spent the money.

My only concern now is what happens when other softwares are out there and I need to upgrade...Handspring doesn't updgrade the os...eventually I will run into the same problem if I update to the prism.

It's a shame because I really like visor but I may have to look into a pocketpc in the near future.

Not that hard

Its not as hard as it seems. Just check to make sure that the software you buy is compatible with Palm OS 3.1. It is almost always disclosed. I can't think of an app that I have really wanted that didn't come in a 3.1 compatible flavor.

But what it boils down to with the VDX at this point is, what do you expect in a $100 PDA?

Well when I brought it, it was $299. So at the time it was the best of the best...but as with everything, age hits and it hits you hard.

But I've gotten good use out of it, I can't complain

I'll stick with it until, I can't anymore.

Off-topic: You seem to be one the few reasonable persons on this message board I have the impression that lot of members posting here use every opportunity to buy a new PDA.

This poll is also very interesting (but, unfortunately for Handspring, does not represent the average custumer): http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...;threadid=13156

Well thanks

Believe it or not I found this board on Sat. Since I never really had an issue with my visor, I never bother to look for message boards...I would get most of my questions answered at Handsprings site.

Thanks for the voting link, I've posted my vote, I don't feel that bad now that I know 44 people spent over $800 on there visor.....eeeekkk!!! Way over my budget!
