Just recieved my backup module and I have to say that Springboard technology is really neat!

I plug it in and instanly the program comes up. The backup routine is relatively quick. I haven't had to restore yet, and I don't ever want to, but I'm sure this lil' piece of insurance will work flawlessly if the time comes!

My one problem is that if I would like to keep the backup module in the visor I can't seem to find the program once I exit it and go back to the os. I have to take it out and plug it back in. Has anyone found a way to do this? I have my VDlx in a rhinoskin 1100 case and the lessIi have to remove it the less chipping will occur on the notch from the cover.

DMcH,

The program can be found in the applications list. Just click on the application silkscreen button (the house), and then select the 'All' category from the drop-down list at the top-right of the screen. The program is called "Backup" and has a little square before the name to indicate that it is a springboard module program.

I figured out what it was....

Springboard applications must not show up in Handscape. I could see it though when I exited to the palm os. I guess it just means an extra step. Does this happen with Launcher III too?

Nope, the back-up app shows up in Launcher III. Only little bug I notice with the module and LIII is the little dot that indicates that an app is SB related shows up for all the apps that occur before "back-up" alphabetically. Hmmm.

I thought about keeping the backup module in my Visor -- but the thought occurred to me that if I lost the Visor (perish the thought), I'd also lose my backup! So I keep it in my desk drawer. Because I'm prepared, this means I will never lose my Visor, right? (Isn't this a corrolary to Murphy's Law?)

Besides, where would I keep my post-it notes if I filled up my module slot with an actual module?

Well, there's no perfect backup solution, so I'm resigned to a multi-pronged approach.

The Backup Module sure looks like the way to keep your backside covered while away from the pc. After HandyShop2 (beta, admittedly) nuked my Visor (twice, sigh...- that reboot loop is sure disheartening) I realize how important the Backup Module is and how fortunate I was to have borrowed my co-worker's Backup Mod for that weekend.

However, after admitting that I had far too much crap on the Visor and that it wasn't helping the unit's stability much, I reloaded the essentials from scratch. And there I sat, staring at the Backup Module that contained the only copy of my PocketMoney data, and realized I could only get that data by reloading *all* that unwanted destabilizing stuff.

This is where the file-level access of Backup Buddy would have been perfect. So I need Backup Buddy, too.

Not that I begrudge the dollars or anything, but it's taking a while to get the whole setup coherent.
