My wife and I finally received our PDAs. My Prism arrived yesterday, and her Deluxe blue arrived about 4 days ago. I'll have to say, I'm impressed with the size and the ease of use. I did get a chance to turn them both on to check for dead pixels and basic health of them after shipping. I stuck my Prism on charge before I came to work so I can check it out more tonight.

Last night after she went to bed, I took both out and twiddled with them to see what the big deal is with the Palm based environment. Since I came from the Sharp Wizard and my wife has been using paper based stuff in the past, I thought there would be a big learning curve compared to the keyboard. I'm not sure how my wife will do, but in 5 minutes, I have it mastered already. Graffitti is simple and easy to transition to over my keyboard based planner. I had no problems with graffitti reported with earlier units. I was scribbling out sentences within a minute after doing the digitizer calibration.

The screen is easy to read and is formatted well with the basic applications that are in there. The monochrome of the Deluxe is nice and crisp even in the dark. The Prism is wonderful in the dark and in bright light indoors. Color is certainly a dramatic, even shocking difference. It makes things appear even more clear.

The shape of the Visor is very comfortable and easy to manage. The weight is fine compared to my wizard (which feels like 1.75x the weight of the Prism). The Deluxe is lighter, but the weight of the Prism doesn't bother me a bit. It looks and feels perfect to me.

Now I get it. I understand what the big deal is now. I like it. Now I have to wait until Christmas until I really get to wring it out and load apps on it.

One note on the screen size, resolution though: I kind of expected a bit more over what it has based on current technology. While the screen was crisp and very nice on both the Deluxe and the Prism, I thought the screen would be less "pixellated" or grainy than it was. Either way, the Palm operating system behind the Handspring product makes it VERY easy to use right out of the box.

I'm "not allowed" to actually use the device until Christmas . She's wrapping them tonight after I function check them. We both want to make sure that they are both perfect before Christmas comes since we will be playing with them all day long after we unwrap them.

First apps that go on them on Christmas morning will be:
Zap2016, DayPlanner4, weSync, and the Car logging software.

I'm all pumped up for Christmas now! Have that little kid feeling again!
