Thumbs up Visor ROM via USB HOW-TO is resurrected!!

OK, I had an epiphany last night after hearing that the HOW-TO for getting a Visor ROM via USB was gone. Granted, I can't reproduce the whole thread, but I remembered that I had pasted the text of the original HOW-TO onto Usenet, so courtesy of Google, it's back from the dead:

quote:
This is taken from VisorCentral.com ( http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...TML/000130.html ), modified
slightly for reading clarity, and is verified as working on my system (among several others):

1) HotSync first. Probably also a good idea to disable any hacks you have running.
2) Download and install the Handspring SDK.
3) Launch PalmDebugger "Handspring\PalmTools\bin\palm-debugger.exe"
4) In the Connections menu select USB.
5) Sit the visor in the cradle.
6) Launch memopad - and write Shortcut - dot - dot - 1 (In other words the shortcut symbol - lowercase cursive L, two dots to make a period, and a 1). This puts the visor into debug mode, through which it can communicate with the debugger.
7) Now, in Palm-Debugger's "Debugger" window type the following. (and press enter):

save "visor.rom" 10c00000 200000

A percentage counter should appear - when this reaches 100 it should print the following:

#2097152 bytes saved from address $10C00000 to file "visor.rom"

8) If you get this far you have now saved the visors rom to a file on your computer. Look for it in "Handspring\PalmTools\bin\Device\" to find it.
9) But wait, the visor is still in debug mode and likely to kill your batteries if you dont get it out. So simply perform a soft reset or even simpler, type "reset" and press enter in the debugger window.
Launch POSE and begin to develop some cool visor apps.
