Whow! So you (or someone else) knows how to use Photoshop?

Impressive!

Paint Shop Pro actually. It was a just for fun thing. Anyway, I don't know why anyone would have trouble finding the pic. The one without the s on the end is the larger pic. I wish geocities would stop the madness and just allow hotlinks.

RE: Overclocking

Still, with all this information, I still have to think that if Handspring could reliably OC the Dragonball chips, they would have done it. Even, say, only a 3% failure rate or something is still a bad idea. From an enginnering standpoint, any overclocking over what Motorola declares safe (16/33mHZ), would stress the chip. It may work, but it may shorten it's life. I don't really know for sure, OC'ing involves luck.

Cool

I don't think that Handspring needs to overclock anything. Motorola makes a faster Dragonball chip. If anything they under clock this chip for longer battery life. 66mhz baby!

From Motorola's site:
The MC68SZ328 (DragonBall Super VZ) microprocessor, the fourth generation of the 68K-based DragonBall family of products, is designed to save system designers time, power, and cost. Requiring less board space, it allows for reduced pin count and fewer programming steps when designing products. The major differences between previous versions of DragonBall processors and the new Super VZ are an improvement in system speed, TFT color LCD support, an A/D converter (with touch panel control), an MMC/SD host controller, a DMA controller, embedded SRAM, a USB device controller, and an I2C interface.

hmmmm, does A/D converter mean it will convert dc power to ac power or visaversa? does that mean u can plug in an externall power supply? i wonder if there will be a better speaker?

I'm 99% sure that's not what they mean. If so, it'd be an inverter, not a converter. All you would need for an external adapter is to bypass the battery contacts are jumper straight to the power input.

Looks like PDABuzz picked up on these rumors.

Looks like The Register picked up on the PDA Buzz stuff about "Ace" and "Columbia".

Here's the link:

WOW! Check out those price cuts:

quote:
The Platinum is due for a price cut at the end of this week, rumour suggests, as is the Visor Edge. The Platinum will fall from $249 to $199, the Edge from $399 to $299, both in 19 August.

@ $299 the Edge is a steal! The Platinum @ $199 should compare really well to the SONY Clie 320. I wonder if the Prism will drop in price as well? I would like to see handspring offer the Prism as an entry level color device to edge out the Palm IIIc.

Can't wait to see the new HS devices. I just hope they have higher res display's like SONY. If they are compelling enough, and the price is right, I just might be tempted to say goodbye to my Palm M505, but it will take a lot to get me to switch. On the other hand, there is a SONY Clie 710 that keeps calling me like the sirens song.

Arrow Neo and Pro?

According to PDABuzz.com board about the Handspring PDA rumor. The new Visors will be called the Neo and Pro. Now those are names I can see Handspring using for their PDA.

Talking

THANK GOD! With names like "Ace" and "Columbia", I was afraid Hawkins had been hanging around Robert Downey jr., if you catch my meaning.

The new names actually sound rather sexy.

Can't wait to see what they look like.

Well MSNBC has picked up on the HandSpring rumor hipe:

"Rumors also indicate that Handspring, the largest licensee of the Palm operating system, is also preparing new handhelds and is planning to drop prices on its Visor Platinum and Visor Edge."

Question

While I am drooling at the prospect of a new HS with 45 mhz and 16 megs, and will order one the first day they are available, I am getting a queasy feeling that we are all getting goobed. It sounds too good to be true. Is all this hype still based on postings on this site and other PDA sites by a couple of guys who claim to work for Staples? That seemed to be the source of the article in the Register and the MSNBC article is only citing rumors. I don't mean to impugn anyone's integrity, especially someone who (perhaps at some risk to his job) is just trying to keep his fellow Visor owners informed, but that's a pretty thin source. I'm a cynic, I admit it, I would be a better person and live longer and happier if I wasn't. I hope that subsequent events prove that my suspicions are wrong.

No, I'm still alive. It just took some time to find attachment "D" which was buried under my GM's desk. And my findings are: Ace and Columbia are true PLUS the Dx will also drop to $169 AND info on a new crappy Palm unit. This has convinced me to sell my edge and buy a VPL, so that I can finally have a keyboard!

both VisorNeo.com and VisorPro.com are regestered domains. They appeared to have been registered last week, before anyone heard of this. They are registered to a very fake sounding name Alex Shwartz, who lives on 1000 market street in San Fransisco. It's not often that companies regieter domains under aliases.. Both Ace and Columbia are unregestered..

And here are the rest of the possible names.
Assuming that AlexSchwartz is a Handspring Alabi, lookign at how all his domains are www.visor____.com and that no offence, that sounds liek a tatic they would use, after people finding about edge, twist, and snap names..

Here they are.
The Visor Pro (16 mb) The Visor Neo (deluxe replacenmt) the Visor Air (wireless?) The Visor Flip (who knows) The Visor XL, and last of all the Visor Ginger. Wow. What a life we have to come. All of those domains were created August 6th 2001. OOO I CAN'T WAIT!

Ps - the phone number for Alex Shwartz is 555-1212, furtheur confirming my suspcians it's a fake.
