I haven't seen this mentioned yet...

I just checked a minute ago, and the Handspring website now allows you to order online. They let you choose a USB cradle vs. a Serial cradle, your choice of a case, and the whole works.

P.S. I already purchased a Palm VII yesterday, so I will be cancelling my order of the Visor. The Palm VII works so wonderfully... it's simply amazing. I've tried out other Palms, including the Palm V, but never really found a use for them... but the Palm VII is simply a joy to use. I hope Handspring manages to release a Springboard module for the Visor, but for now, it's so pleasant to have an all-in-one unit that lets you access the Internet merely by lifting up the antenna...

I had a look a few hours back, so the change is really new.

Shipping is now $8.50 also it said: 'there is tax in: CA, KY & MA'.

And then it said:

"NOTE: We will begin shipments of all products beginning in October based on the order received -- expect about four to six weeks. Your credit card will not be charged until your order is shipped. You may check your order status at any time within the Customer Service section of the web site. Thanks for your patience!"

Check your order here:

You can also buy t-shirts and all sort of stuff, but no new springboards other then the 4 we have seen before.

Well done!

Yeah, you can check your order, but you need the order number or your email address and some mysterious password to get your order status. Guess I'll have to call Customer Service and get my order number...

Thumbs down

The only problem is that it's still a fill-in-the blanks system, not fully operational. On one page (....../UserTemplate/25) They actually have a Pic of a Palm III made up to look like a VD (hmm, can we say proof-of-concept photo) and a reviewers quote that actually says "5 out of 5 widgets... et harumk dereud facilis est er expedit destinct
-Top Selling Magazine"

Talking

Well, the first message in this thread got me nervous about the "serial cradle OPTION", so
I called Handspring to make sure that when I ordered the serial cradle, I ALSO got a USB cradle (the serial's for work, and I plan on setting up my home PC with USB). The sales rep's response was what I was hoping for (you DO get both cradles), but since I've decided that these guys are in the dark almost as much as us, I took it with a grain of salt.

The thing he said that DID pique my interest, was that we would receive our confirmation numbers WITHIN 48 HOURS!!! Since that's the smallest estimate we've had so far, I'd say it's right on.

Cool

I saw the new site this AM as well, about 7:00 EST, but by the time I got to my office it was gone??? What happened? Did we see some sort os test? From what I was able to see It looked pretty cool. The password thing kinda sucked. I'm anxoiusly awaiting the reapperance of the web site.

My bad, I had bookmarked the old site, which by the way is still up at http://216.35.16.11/, so all I was seeing was the old site.

Sorry.....
