Bluetooth and Treo and expansion

I posted a thread in the "developer's corner" forum, but got no response on the matter.

I'd been wondering about the potential of Bluetooth to solve the perceived problem of not being able to use multiple Springboards at the same time. I imagined a small piece of carry-on luggage in the overhead bin of yer typical commercial airplane, with its own lithium-ion power source, a bluetooth transceiver, and a series of ports in which you could insert all your various modules. Then, with a Bluetooth module inserted in the Visor and a specially written application to make the selections, you could access each module in turn that you needed.

Or even if each individual module that was produced came with Bluetooth built in - you wouldn't even need the PCMCIA connector anymore. It could just be a featureless square, cylinder, whatever (with the appropriate printed label so you could distinguish it from the the other featureless cylinders). Then you could toss them in your backpack/purse/briefcase and access them with your Bluetooth-enabled PDA. Maybe they'll put Bluetooth on the Treo, and eliminate the expandability issue.

I'm sure this has all been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything. But is Bluetooth fast enough to replace the direct Springboard connection and make this sort of setup worthwhile?
