Does anyone know the status of the Visor serial cable made by MarkSpace? They took my money over 2 months ago and I've yet to see anything. It seems strange that they would charge my credit card BEFORE they shipped anything. If I don't see something soon I'm going to ask for my money back.

I've heard of people waiting months for the markspace serial cable. You may want to try ordering it from atlconnect.com, Part # 500821. I ordered mine today and inspite of the website stating a min order price of $65.00 they had no problem filling an order for one cable at $28.70. I hope this helps.

Will this cable work the same as the markspace cable? Will it work to connect your visor to a cell phone?

The ATL and Mark/Space sync cables won't work with a cell phone because it is powered (the TTL-RS232 conversion circuit) by the device, not the Visor. The Mark/Space modem cable is supposed to be powered by the Visor... whether that will work with a phone, I don't know.

OK, thanks. I've been waiting on the Markspace cable, but maybe I'd be better off just going ahead with the handspring serial cradle- i know others have gotten it to work with a cell phone..... I just thought it would be nice to be able to hold the visor and not have to have a flat surface to place it in the cradle... oh well...

The ATL cable works the same as the Handspring cradle, therefore it might do what you want.

Well, according to that LONG post on connecting your visor wirelessly using a cell phone, http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...p?threadid=5570, (sorry, I don't know how to paste this here so it is a link) people have been successful using a visor serial cradle, a few specific types of cell phones, sprint cell phone service, the data connector cable that comes with the cell phone, and an adapter in between the two cables.

I have everything i need except the last cable!

Hi Marcy, Did you ever get this working with your serial cradle. I was thinking of attempting to make a cable using the ATL cable (actually half of the ATL cable) sliced to the connector to my Motorola Timeport. This would bypass the Serial connectors/adapters altogether, and make a neater 2 foot long (or so) connector. The cradle thing works, but it's really klunky.

If you do get the ATL connector, and it works, can you let me know so I can get one and attempt the custom cable? Thanks!

I'm only going by what I see on the other thread, but if I go that route and try it out- I'll be sure to relate if it works!

Mark/Space cable is shipping

I just got off the phone with Mark/Space. They said that if you placed an order for their DCH-M9 cable before October 2nd it was shipped out over the weekend. Orders received after October 2nd will go out the third week in November. Seeing as I ordered mine just after the 2nd I guess I'll be waiting. If you are one of the lucky ones that receive one of the cables please let us know how it works. Especially with the Earthmate GPS.

I received my Mark/Space Modem cable today. It seems to work fine with the Delorme Earthmate GPS receiver. I'm a little concerned about the battery consumption (the cable does get its power from the visor). I went from about 80% on the battery gauge to almost 50% after using the GPS for 10 minutes! I'll keep you posted.
