I've looked, and I haven't seen anything quite to my liking; but I'm hoping that I've missed something . . .

Anyway, I'm looking for a way to hang my Visor from my neck with some nylon webbing. I'm looking for minimal added bulk on the Visor it self, with no blockage of the Springboard slot and with room for oversize Springboard modules. While not as essential, it should not block the IR port, include a flip-top screen protector, not interfere with the hotsync cradle, and not block the stylus holder (or provide its own stylus holder).

Has anyone seen anything like this?

How would that work? I'd imagine it'd be kind of heavy around your neck, I can't even wear a pager around my neck, how do you wear a visor.

I have been looking too. No luck.

I thought about making a simple case that I could hang from a string around my neck. I would use it at the store when I use HandyShopper2. I am SO scared I'm going to drop it in the store.

I don't think it would be hard to make somthing. I don't think it would look the greatest, but I'm sure it will work.

mxgian - Sorry I wasn't clearer. I'm looking to provide my Visor with a leash that will keep it from hitting the ground should I drop it (or should it slip out of my shirt pocket).

Winchell - Yeah. That is the concept I was thinking of. I'll see what they have to say. Thanks!

wilderf - Think I'm going to try to glue a quarter sized piece of thin plastic to the back of my Visor. I'll leave a couple of tabs with holes punched in them loose, and I'll string some thin nylon webbing through for the leash. I'll just have to be sure to use a glue that I can remove if my experiment fails (or if I can find a better solution).

I was thinking about your problem, what about using the springboard slot to hold it in? I know this won't let you use any springboards it'll at least let you hold it. If we can figure out a way to hold it in the springboard. Personally I don't like an epoxy, I'd be worried that the epoxy would harm the plastic. The stronger stuff is usually caustic to plastics.

Good point. Maybe SuperGlue? I know there is stuff to release it, but I'd better check first. I'm going to use the inside of the Springboard cover to test the effects of the adhesive on the Visor's plastic.

another option is to do your sling glueing or attaching to the Visor hard cover and clip the VD in the cover (either side out depending).

ss@rr - Yah. The wearable idea is an interesting alternative; but, if I were going that route, I'd probably give Winchell's Rhodiana case a try as I think it offers better protection.

I really like keeping my Visor in my shirt pocket, so that disqualifies most cases that offer any real protection for the Visor (the only reason I would consider a 3rd party case). The downside to the shirt pocket is the tendency for the Visor to slide out whenever I bend over. This and my fear of dropping my Visor, or knocking it off my desk or a work bench are the driving forces behind this leash idea.

BTW, a shock-protecting case with a belt clip would work - were it not for the bulk and the pager and cell phone that already reside on my hip (and on-call days adds yet another pager).

It doesn't really fit your demands for something that allows beaming and oversize Springboards, BUT I've just noticed on my new Bumper case from Concept Kitchen there are a couple of tabs at the bottom that would allow a thin strap to be passed through. It also offers a lot of sock protection and has a flip over screen protector...
The Visor fits reasonably snugly inside - there's a bit of space at the side, but not too bad.

Winchell - - What made you pick the BurroPak over the D-Holster?

fubar - - In another thread, there was a compliant that the screen cover on the Bumper has a poorly designed latch that may be prone to failure. What's your take?

I also recommend highly the Rhodiana case-- it's well-made, and has the elastic straps so you won't drop it. But here's a twist no one's mentioned yet in this thread: the Rhodiana has two reinforced slits at the bottom corners. You could easily slip a shoelace or other cord (provided that it's not too thick) through the slits, and tie the ends together, then hang the whole thing around your neck.

I saw that thread and was a bit concerned, but like the reply in the other thread said, I think that was a bad case. I could see what the poster meant, about how the nub could get cut by the cover, but it would have to cut it very badly to stop the cover from opening.
