I was wondering if anyone has tried the new YY software. I remember the first upgrade: "Download it now! New and improved!" They didn't give any details about what the upgrades or "new" things were and we were suckered into having them force their unwanted software onto our devices with no hope for uninstalling them. Will this software do the same?

I would like to know if it's worth it before I install it.

I installed it this morning. I haven't used it much, though.

The installation went well, and it even deleted the installation program. The previous "upgrade" slowed my Visor down quite a bit when using Yada's customized interface (sorry, I've had a brain cramp and can't remember the proper term). This version causes no slowdowns.

I haven't been able to connect using Yada Browse, but I don't use it anyway, and Blazer works just fine. I have a spotty connection here in the middle of a cube farm, so that could be the cause.

So far, it isn't bad.

I tried it, seems the same except YADA Browse is in color, (aka Browse-it 2.0).

What does the program "Email" look like... any changes?

I found this to be the best email program for my needs and tried copying it to the Visor. I found that you need to have the Minstrel in the slot in order to make it function.

I haven't noticed any changes to the email program.

I don't know about fatal errors but I'm having this problem, which may just be coincidental timing with the installation of Yada 4.0 or not:

When I first insert my Minstrel S it starts up the YadaYada Launcher, but it gets hung up and never finishes displaying icons. If I then do a soft reset with the Minstrel in, it starts up and then gives me the "Removing Minstrel" dialog screen and then the rest of the system works fine, but doesn't recognize that there's anything in the Springboard.

If I do a soft reset after removing the Minstrel S, the Visor works fine

Any thoughts from the collective wisdom of this group?

Yes, whereas it used to take 7 seconds or so to get a Fatal Exception when powering off the modem, it now only takes about 3 seconds to crap out. Much more efficient.

They happen just as often as before. About every third time I try to power off the modem, I get a fatal exception.

I tried this... go into the modem's setting and enable the "Auto Power Off".

This turns the modem off when you turn the Visor off. I have had less problems doing this or using the Power Switch program.

We should create a forum for YY Fatal Exceptions only. Ok ok, I am being selfish.

I never had a problem with them in the past so I can't say (I have a Prism, so that might make the difference)

Well, I tried it and I can say that I'm not as thrilled as I hoped to be. It seems to crash more often and color makes no difference since I'm using a Deluxe. I went back to 3.1 as it seems to be much more stable. I can connect and disconnect and turn my Visor on and off all day without it crashing. With 4.0 it would crash every time I powered down.

BTW, did anyone get the "Taskbar" feature to work. Is it simillar to SwitchHack?
