That's true for modules that are flush with the Visor's body: the backup Springboard, Peanut Press books, flash modules, etc. But many springboards will creep over the top of the Visor: MP3, GPS, radios, and digicams for instance. Accessories are another factor. Not everyone will care about the colors matching but it's something to keep in mind.

Hmmm. I thought it was "make it look like the Newton, only smaller".

I have blue; considered ice and green also. No problems with the less professional look, and I've pulled it out in meetings with U.S. Senators, company CEOs, lawyers, lobbyists, etc. I would definitely have preferred a more "feminine" color--purple or red (even pink?), but like blue best of the available colors.

To borrow the phrase from another Visor Central user, "Ice is nice." I'm a professional, and I don't worry about its appearance. Primarily because it IS the superior PDA.

But the call is yours - what color do you like?

I like my Ice Visor. Sometimes, when I've had too much to drink, I can see all the little gears and pully's moving around and stuff. Once, I thought I saw a little hampster in there. Try it yourself!

Hmmm...

Where can you get replacement cases? I like the idea of getting a graphite back too...

Maybe I'll see if I can swap with a guy at work who has a Solo.

Graphite for myself and Blue for my fiance.

I personally like the typical black box look since the mid 80s through till now that is used for all sorts of High tech hardware.

She went with blue to be different and depart from the greys and blacks of her PIII and all other pieces of tehnology that are encased in black boxes.

Also added a black PDA panache Nail stylus to both and we think we should have gone chrome for her even though hers came with the ice coloured enhanced stylus with the screwdriver and reset pin out of the box.

Thumbs down

>>I myself got the graphite visor. It is more professional looking, in my opinion<<

Completely agree. I bought ice. It looked cool on paper. Looks cheap and chintzy in person.

Ok here's an idea...

Covers that you can change like the Nokia 3210 Mobile phone... Basically if you haven't seen this phone, the front and back covers can be removed and different coloured/textured/shaped covers can put in place.

This would also mean third party accessories could intergrate better screen covers, or different covers depending on springboard module size. or someone could make one which was slighty thicker, but had space for spare batteries or a space to hold an extra module that is not in use.

And aswell as all of this... If the plastic gets scratched/broken you only need to pay $20 (or whatever) to get a new one...

What do you think?

(btw, I am going to buy a blue visor cos blue is my colour! <looks at his walls> )

I have a Blue VDx and I like it. But if they made a purple one, I'd grab one in a heartbeat! Where are the purple accessories??? I have to get some quick!

I bought a blue visor and a Targus case which cover all the side except the top with leather, a graphite look for more professional look and use the given slip case when I want a lighter mood.

I have owned a blue for 2 months now and am very satisfied with it. I at first regretted not getting green or orange (ice wasn't my style, nor was black). Now though I'm glad I got the blue. It's a nice medium between all the graphite and the more wild colors. The blue is not available in any other handheld so it sets my PDA apart. But you don't have people think you're carying around a new thin gameboy color either (well at least not as much). The blue is good for me also because I'm in High School and it doesn't seem to be as much of a toy. Although I seem to defeat this purpose because every introduction to teachers has been when I was playing a game after a test in which you shoot falling parashooters and the expressions on my face which aren't the normal for an after test read. The "I do a lot of serious stuff like grades and dictionaries on here mostly--I only have a few games speech is a classic by now. So in the end I'm happy with my blue.

Hope This Helps

My Visor is orange, mostly to match my new computer case (not an iMac) and possibly an iBook (like the iBook will happen). I don't really care whether or not the Springboard modules match the ice-colored back, because you're looking at the front all the time anyway (unless it sticks over, then I would at least get ice, if available). I'm still debating whether or not to take it to school, as the deans there may consider the Visor a "nuisance item", it could get stolen, etc., even though I have a program that keeps track of my assignments and stuff.

I work in the plastic injection molding field, and additional colors would be as easy as putting different colored raw material into the molding machine. We change colors all the time.

What may restrict the amount of colors offered may be the plastic supplier itself. I don't know what plastic is used for the cases, but their may be limited color availability for that particular plastic resin.

What would be cool though, would be what is called two-component injection. What you would do is begin injecting the clear (ice) color then switch to, say, orange. This would give you a cool swirl or marbled pattern in the plastic case. You could further this effect by starting with one color, then alternating back and forth several times to get a kind of tie-died effect.

What I would like to see would be a case overmolded with an elastomer to give it a soft touch feel kind of like the rubberized buttons on some calculators. This would really enhance the "gripability" of the unit. I've almost dropped mine on several occasions because it slipped while trying to remove and put the cover on the back while simultaneousely using the phone, writing, walking, eating a Big Mac (pick one).
