I too have been pleased using sheet vinyl.
I got it at the local hardware store.. they had two thicknesses, I bought the thinner one and cut small rectangle to fit the screen... be sure to cut a small notch (ie. cut the corner off) so when you want to remove it you can get a toothpick or some other non-sharp non-scratching object under it to lift it off.

Also be sure to work on a very clean surface and clean off the screen and vinyl before you apply. Also I had several small bubbles at first that soon dissappeared. I have had the current vinyl on my visor for almost a month with no problems...

Hey guys. That's a lot of messages on screen protectors. Doubt too many will read this far. But I have had great luck with simple post-it notes. I cut it to size and add a little extra adhesive is all. I only cover the graffitti area, not the silk screen buttons - no real need there.
I make tiny marks at the top and bottom of the paper to show where the dividing line is between letter and numbers. They last, and arre quick and cheap to replace. You can even get colors to match the visor deluxe colors is desired. Texture is great for writing too.

My suggestion (tried transparencies and could not find vinyl) is an item I found at staples when looking for screen protection. they're called "clear decals" and are by invent it. They are designed for your ink jet printer adn come in packs of 10 sheets. One sheet makes about 9 protectors and it has a square peel off so sizes are easy to measure. The pack of ten was 8.99, and that makes about 90 protectors. That's a big improvement for 26 bucks for what...20? They use NO adhesive which I like a lot and attach using static cling. I've had NO problems at all with my Blue VDX as in static cling screwing up the screen. A suggestion though, after you apply the screen covering (any kind) re-run the "welcome program" to calibrate the screen again to get better recognition.

I just tried the Avery SP119 Vinyl sheet protectors. I had a couple old ones lying around. I had to cut it down to size to just fit the full screen size 61mm x 80mm. (Not too frustrating.) A trick to make it stick easily without any adhesives is to lightly rub the vinyl against nylon/polyester or fleece. This gives it static cling to hold on and not damage the screen. The appearance is the same as the Visor screen.

I've had the Writerights on my Visor for about 2 months now and was neutrally satisfied with them, but have always hated the way they "blur" the screen (I have the textured ones for the Palm III). I thought it was a small price to pay for the protection I got, but until recently, after reading all of these posts, I decided to "remind" myself of what I was missing and took them off. There is NO way I am ever putting them back on, at least the textured Writerights.

Which brings me to my second point; I am too paranoid to use any type of oil, lubricant, soap, etc. with the vinyl. I was going to try the Laminate-It! brands but was also hesitant over it being too sticky.

Then, came my savior, Calvin...errr...I mean Hobbes. What she has sounds VERY promising; those "decal" thingies. As for using static electricity to adhere it to the screen, I have no concerns since its charge should be very low relative to what the Visor is designed to handle. Besides, it is insulated; there's no metallic contact with anything inside the visor, right?

Anyway, Hobbes, could you kindly please tell me what brand these "decals" are?

I contacted www.easypeel.com and they will custom cut the smallest sheets to 8cm x 6cm to fit the screen. I ordered 2 sets of 2 (4 total)........

I will post my 'review' after I get them. And for anyone else wanting to order now and get away from the fuzzy WW screens, order the smallest ones they offer, but also put a 1 (or equal to the previous quantity) in the other section and list what size you want. (per email from easypeel)
