Question

so i just installed album to go and a bunch of pix with it, and i realized that the pics sort of swim - i.e. the grayscale is not at all stable on the screen, as if it is constantly refreshing itself or something. i notice this with other heavily greyscaled apps, like conqueror, and though i haven't surfed the web in a little while, i imagine it would happen there, too.

here's the thing. this is a new phenomenon. since installing album to go. but when i first installed it, there was no problem. is there some hack incompatibility?

it's not a huge thing, i can still see the pix and evrything, they just sort of swim annoyingly.

i only have about 600k left... could that be an issue? am i alone with this?

heeeeeeeeelllllppp!!!!!

That happens sometimes when the screen refresh rate is set low (with nostreakhack or something like it). If you have nostreakhack installed, try setting it to 2 and enable it in greyscale mode (there is a checkbox).

Try downloading nostreak from Palmgear (there are two nostreak hacks, but I think this one is better: http://www.palmgear.com/software/sh...amp;prodID=3873 ). switch the settings around 'til they work well for you. For greyscale stuff like SilverScreen, I use the setting 2, with 'enable in greyscale mode" checked.

Matty,
I noticed this also (no hacks on mine). I find that Image Viewer III (v 3.2) works well and does not exhibit this. I'd recommend you use this pgm instead.

I mentioned this in an old, old post long ago. Yeah, I noticed this problem with AlbumToGo sometime ago.

The swimming movement only appears in certain situations - only when you look at it under some kind of fluorescent lighting. It seems the refresh rate of the Visor is sometimes in sync with certain kinds of fluorescent lighting, causing the wavy pattern. It doesn't happen with all fluorescent lighting (it depends on the refresh rate of the fluorescent lighting) and it does not happen if you look at the pictures in broad daylight.

Ditto to dequardo. I recommend FireViewer as well.

The author of the previous post says that it is the refresh rate of the "Visor", but I think that ATG must use another, since I have no problems with FV under any kind of light.

ATG images seem to swim anywhere...what's the refresh rate of the sun?

Unhappy

well, i installed nostreakhack and it helped a little but not completely. and it's not just under flourescents... the screens swim at my home too... and like i said, it's not just a2g, but conqueror, as well.

ah well. it's certainly live-with-able.

I ran across this issue with AvantGo, ProxiWeb, even the game Asteroids. And it had nothing to do with the viewing light.

My fellow Visor users saw it and went, "Ewwww!"

Installing the hack and checking enable in greyscale mode solved the problem for me.

I passed this on to Handspring technical support to investigate. It's an ugly issue.
