Ok. I just bought on 3/14 a new Visor Prism. (I love it, don't get me wrong) BUT....Now I hear about the possibility of a new Visor coming out soon, like maybe a new Edge in COLOR.

So.I have 14 days (until 3/27) to make up my mind to keep this unit or return it for a refund and wait for the new Visors to show up.

What do you think I should do??

What has the rumor mill been saying about a new Color Edge to go up against the new color Palm?

Helpthanks

If you decide you want to wait (going against the 100% of people who said keep it), will you be willing to pay AT LEAST $100 more for a thinner version? Also depends on whatever you are / will be an avid spring board user. If you are thinking about buying a memory expansion springboard, the Edge is useless.

Also, will the new color Edge have more memory? I say keep the Prism and swap in a year or so.

The only memory that I was thinking of adding will be that MEMPLUG adapter. Now I know that its not "real" memory, but I thought that with the EDGE you could use springboard modules?

You can, but the issue is how much are you going to use the springboard? If you think you will use it a lot, you will have to have the Springboard adapter attached to the back of the (so far hypothetical) slimmer color Visor. You therefore lose the big advantage of a slimmer unit, it's smaller form factor.

Question

Does anyone know/think that any new color visor would have an improved LCD screen?

I am sure that they will at some point the future, but what you do all think about the possibility of it coming out anytime soon. within a few weeks or months?

Thank for everyones adviceJosh

I'll assume that between your last post and this time you've learned of the new Sony color Clie and its increased resolution.
Since its color depth is 256, I wouldn't put it past Jeff & his buddies to do the same, but at 64k colors.
That's kind of their challenge right now. As for when, that's a tough thing to know.
I'd wait the 13 days, and see if there's any news.
As someone else mentioned, if HS tops the Sony device, they'll prob. price it at least $100 more, since (for now) the Sony only has mem for the MemStick (though other peripherals were "supposedly" in the wings; but since we've now seen Sony's device, I doubt ANYONE doubts they can pull off just whatever the heck they say they will), and HS has other peripherals ready now.

Thank BKBK.....I did take a look at the Sony, only problem for me is that I have a Macintosh and I hear that those Sonys/HP/Compaqs etc. have problems syncing to the Mac platform.

Also isn't that new Sony only out in Japan for now? Any word on US release date yet?

The Palm m505 will be available soon. It might fit your needs as well as a Prism (mostly if you can get by with SD instead of Springboard).

Also, the m505 is the same price as the Prism. This should put some pressure on HS to reduce Prism prices, especially if they did bring out a color Edge. I don't think people would fork over $550 for a color edge, assuming the price difference between the Prism and color Edge would be the same as the difference between the Platinum and Edge ($100).

OTOH if a Color Edge cost the same as an m505 (like the Edge and m500 are the same), then the Prism prices should drop to $350-$400.

So, if you wait a month or so, you might get cheaper prices and/or newer stuff. (I said MIGHT!)

Thumbs up *** Im keeping it ***

Well I have made up my mind.I will be KEEPING my Visor Prism!!

I think that it will do what I want it to do for now and when Handspring brings out an improved screen I will upgrade then. Also the fact that I was able to get 10% off of it from CompUSA helped to make the choice easier.

Thanks for everyones posts, emails, etc.should anyone need/want to contact me, please email me at: [email protected]

Thanks again.Josh

I just interviewed Handspring...

don't expect a color Edge anytime soon.

The reason...they don't feel the technology is good enough yet for the size/quality/battery life trade off. The m505 is getting bad reviews because of the screen. The vibe I get from a company like Handspring...is that they won't release a product they aren't sure of 100%. If they can't deliver the right technology at the right price...they just won't do it. Now I am not saying they don't have anything up their sleeve...and you never know what they may release in the next year...but I don't think you will hear them announce a new product just to trump the m505 release.

I have five Visors...one of them is a Prism...and I love it.
