Here is the full quote

I thought I would post the full quote from Yada Yada's CEO here. I myself am a user and I am sorry to hear this as I love the service. I thought this would be a good forum to find out your thoughts and your questions so Yada Yada has a location where they can address them.

Anyway...the full quote:

"We are currently in restructuring mode and will announce a new YadaYada
shortly. We are in the process of finding a way of creating a new platform
that will continue to use the YadaYada technology for business and
enterprise customers. YadaYada is a great company and will remain so after
the restructuring. We have had a setback due to the financial markets but I
am confident we will come through it fine. Our team comprises of very
talented people and I believe whenever talented people put their minds to
something success is inevitable."

This is a bummer!

I signed on for 12 months with YY back in December! I've enjoyed it very much since. Today I've had trouble signing into the network....now I know why! This basically bites for us YY owners.

I'm waiting to hear that service will be restored soon.... (please)

Mike

I was using it just last night with no problems. I've had the service since late last fall. At first I wasn't very pleased with it, but lately it's worked pretty well, since I got a new modem in February. Bummer.

I note that their website doesn't mention the announcement.

Unhappy

That Sucks. Im very happy with yadas service. The big question is, can we jump ship and sign up with another wireless service provider if things dont work out for YadaYada? I was told some time ago by an Omnisky rep that Yadas Co-branded Minstrel S modem wasnt operable on Omniskys service.

What?

That's a big bummer! I have been happy with the service since last October. I hope that they do stick around!

As an OmniSky user I hope it boosts their membership. Sometimes fewer companies are better....

Well I hope they clarify what they mean a little more...I woule like our readers (and myself) to learn a little more than what we've heard. Hopefully I'll get someone there to clarify how this affects everyone and their service.

It is too bad...a lot of people liked their service...maybe we could take up a collection.

I have been sending my part of the "collection" to them every month.

I thought that Yada Yada was basically just collecting my monthly money and sending most of it to Verizon. Is it just a matter of YY's server passing data back and forth the Verizon network? If so, how hard would it be for another company to take over the servers and capture the customer base? The ROI would be easy enough to figure out, that's for sure.

Personally, if they do go under and I am not moved to another company (for the same rate & deal I had with yada yada), I'll probably go with a visor phone, cell phone & cable or wired modem ... I was not too crazy over the Minstrel S's performance (I liked Yada Yada as a company), the Minstrel S was very touchy in certain areas (like where I live), and since Omnisky uses the same hardware it would likely be the same (lack of) quality of service.

I had the free modem /12 month deal.. what happens to that?

I'm surprised to hear the modem won't work with another service. Couldn't Omnisky (or whomever) just put out a flash updater that wipes the modem's YadaYada settings and installs whatever they use?

Thumbs down Not surprised

I'm glad some folks had good experiences with Yada. Mine was AWFUL. Three modems, one new Visor Deluxe, and countless calls to tech support could not keep the thing from freezing my handheld more than half the time I used it. The website support was non-existent; the tech support department was divided into two, and neither seemed to be fully familiar with the product; and the whole thing seemed to be run on a very shabby basis. Like I said, I'm delighted to hear that other people were happy with their service, but I can see with all honesty that my experience was ABSOLUTELY THE WORST I've had in 15 years of being a pathological early adopter.

I've been using their service since November, and been happy for the most part. The reason I went with yadayada over OS was their willingness to extend service to DLX owners. The reasons I went with a reseller in the first place was unlimited use, nationwide access (at least, anywhere I do business) and no roaming charges. Sodding Omnisky won't give me service, so I might have to sign up with Verizon to get their monthly CDPD service and eat the roaming charges.

But not just yet. As of 10:15 PM CST I still have service. really good throughput tonight, too.

Here is the interesting thing...and I haven't had them clarify yet...

They stated they are ceasing operations and that they are going to reorganize and re-launch. Now does that mean that the service is going down? I don't know the answer to that yet.

I am sorry to hear about their problems....because it hurts the whole industry...since this is such a new segment.

If YadaYada comes back better and stronger, I wouldn't mind a name change. For such a versatile and powerful business and personal tool, YadaYada always struck me as kind of a silly name (and I am very familiar with the Seinfeld episode). Compare it with OMNISKY!! You can almost picture Moses bellowing it from a mountain top. Now that's powerful stuff.

Well, for a company that's "ceased operations" they ain't doing so bad. I'm posting this wirelessly using their service.

And the beat goes on...

I just checked the service a few minutes ago and it's still up and running.
