Lightbulb

I have purchased the Vaja leather belt clip case. I am very pleased with the overall quality. The case allows easy access to the stylus, IR port and even the reset hole. It looks very professional. The belt clip uses a locking mechanism that is sturdy. The shortcomings I can not hotsink in the case ( although I have heard that some owners could) and there is a thin plastic cover over the buttons. Some people seem disappointed in the this however it could easily be cut out. I have not found the plastic to be particular troublesome. It is not inexpensive mine was 70.00 including shipping. I would however highly recommend it.

Here is the site.

$70 is a ripoff for a case. Have you heard of anyone that has tried the Slipper for the Prism? Its only $49 or so..

Believe it or not, I have continued using my Palm Pilot (yes, three years old now) leather belt clip case for my Prism. Although at first it seemed that the Prism wouldn't fit, the leather has stretched out well and the Prism fits quite well now. I think it provides better drop-on-the-floor protection than most of the other Prism cases I've seen (and I should know - I drop my PDAs WAY too often). And at $25, the price is right - as far as I know, it's still available.

I have seen a Franklin-Covey belt clip case at Staples and CompUSA that fits the Prism quite well, but it's a bit more bulky than the Palm case, and leaves the top inch or so on each side uncovered. On the other hand, these aren't "use-in-the-case" type cases, so if you tend to drop your Prism while using it (I only seem to drop mine while it's in the case - getting it out of my bag, knocking it off the counter, etc.) these cases obviously give you no protection. Let us know what you find - I might still be in the market for an "upgrade."

Check out the E-case at www.Levenger.com
It's under the "What's New" area.

I've got both the EB Slipper (the one with the zipper so you can hotsynch) and the Vaja, both for the Prism. They are both nice cases.

The Vaja has much nicer quality leather, and a slightly nicer belt clip IMHO. On the negative side, I don't particularly care for the plastic over the buttons (a minor annoyance), and it is pretty pricey.

The leather on the EB is fine, just not quite as spiffy as the Vaja. The belt clip (or at least mine) sticks sometimes, which makes it a chore to "draw" the Prism out of the clip. On the plus side, it's still a nice case and it's a lot more affordable.

Although I agree that $70 for a case is too much, what are you going to do? You can't purchase an E&B because they are backordered... the wait is long. I ordered one over a month ago and it is still not here. They are backordered at Directcase.com and E&B. Call them and they will give you a line like "They will be coming in tomorrow..." They've been telling me that since January.

I'm leaning towards the Vaja, although I get a pain in my chest every time I think about $70 + $14 shipping... $84 for a case seems like way too much.

Anybody want to sell me their Vaja Prism or E&B? ;-)

Don't use the Palm holster. It's a soft case and has a metal clip. The problem is the other side of the metal doesn't go around the whole screen. I was on the ground and rolled on top of it and cracked the screen on my Dlx.

Vaja Cases soon?

I hate to be premature and post this, but at www.pluscellular.com we are currently waiting on a shipment of VAJA prism cases. We were told they should arrive this week, but I think the snow storm might slow things down.
We are taking preorders for the case at:
http://www.pluscellular.com/vaja1.htm

We offer free shipping in the continental US on orders over $50. That will definitely be a savings on the international shipping from VAJA directly.

Targus Case

Staples sells a Targus case that is leather, velcro top, and swivel belt attachment. It is inexpensive and looks pretty nice. I haven't dropped it yet, so I don't know about protection, but I would say it seems to do fine. Its a little bit of a tight fit because its made for VDx, but its fine. Not bad, eh?

promises... promises...

Sorry to dis on the vendor that is taking preorders, but I'm doubtful. I guess I'm skeptical because other vendors have been promising "oh yeah, they're *almost* here..." for many months now. I think it's mostly BS and hype.

Don't get me wrong, Pluscellular is on my list of possible sources, but so far nobody has these cases. In my mind, the promises aren't worth anything until Vaja delivers. It seems that Vaja is having a hard time meeting demand as it is, and is holding off shipping to other distributors in the US until they have met demand for cases they can sell retail. Vaja would much rather sell you case for $70 then sell it wholesale at $40 or $50. There is much less profit in it for them...

My E&B should be here today. I'm pretty noncommittal at this point. If I really like it then I will keep it. If I don't, then I'll try the Vaja (maybe from pluscellular, directcase, or handago) but my decision will depend on whomever has them first.

Thumbs up Looking for a leather belt-clip case for my Prism?

I ordered the Slipper Prism with clip from EB on March 4. They notified me that it was back ordered. In a few days they notified me that it had been shipped and it arrived March 11.

The Prism fits perfectly into the case. The case itself is as trim as possible. Velcro closure that flips up out of the way. No more trying to find a place for the Prism cover.

Thoughtful cutouts for everything: on-off switch, reset button, even the speaker holes. The bottom of the back unzips so that one can hot sync without taking the unit out of the cover.

I purchased mine with the clip. If you do, intend to use it because there is this rounded metal piece sticking out the back that might hook on something in your pocket.

This is a very neat package. I like it.

Cool

The slipper cases are nice, but they're designed to keep the PDA in the case all the time. I prefer a pouch-type case. E&B Cases makes a great pouch case called the Copilot. It comes in three different sizes, The Copilot 20 is perfect for a bare Prism, and the 40 is good for a Prism with the VisorPhone or Minstrel modem.

Go to www.ebcases.com and at the home page, where its says "Not sure what to order", click on Catalog Search Page. Where it asks to to select your handheld model, don't select Prism. Scroll all the way to the bottom and select Visor Prism. The search results will show both Slipper and Copilot cases along with price and availability. Order directly from them. I've had good luck with them, including with Customer Support when I got a defective stylus. In fact, I've got a Copilot 40 on order right now for my new Prism/VisorPhone combination.

Good luck.

I've tried many cases for my Prism (both carry and belt clip styles) and I can't put away the belt clip model from www.fossil.com. I love the model because everything (except syncing and using large modules) is very functional. It has slots for money and credit cards that are behind the PDA rather than on the flap that goes in front like others. It also has a slot for a Pen-combo stylus which is a must have!

It's a little bulky but no other case has proven better for me so far....

Now if only I can find a solution for carrying all my springboad modules!

I just ordered my Vaja black ostrich non-belt clip case to go with the e-holster I recently received. I ordered the Vaja case from pluscellular.com but based on what I've read here, I'm not optomistic about delivery dates. I just wanted to put in my input on eholster.com I have placed two orders with them and have received my product both times within a couple of days. Their PDA size case fits the Prism perfectly and can stretch to fit the Targus Stowaway keyboard instead. The shoulder holster style device allows you to have your Prism on one side of your body and your keyboard on the other side of your body. They also have cases for cell phones and larger portable computing devices. If you can get over the geek factor, this is an ideal solution. I am a sales rep in the Northeast, and I generally wear sportcoats in the field when I am calling on customers. The eholster provides a discreat carrying case for your Prism in a gun style shoulder holster. Kind of a power trip and a secret that nobody notices until you decide to "whip out the heat". I hope I get my Vaja soon to complement the eholster that I am VERY happy with.
