Unhappy retiring the VPhone

After a year and a half, I just have to move on.

<Pause for dramatic effect>

It's not the Visorphone - I am hooked on the PDA/phone combination. The only GSM carriers in my area are T-Mobile and Cingular, and their coverage in the areas where I use the phone is less than stellar. On my ride to work, I will typically have dropped calls 3 or 4 times. This is ridiculous and annoying, and I can't take it any more. I was thinking of going to Sprint and getting a Treo 300, but from what I have been reading about Sprint and their horrendous customer service, I decided to stay away. I want less aggravation, not more. So I'm going back to a cell phone (probably Nextel) and just using the VDx as my organizer... Not as convenient as all in one, but it seems a Treo is not in my (near) future.

I'll be sad, I've really become accustomed to the convenience of a Palm powered PDA/phone combo. I'll keep using the VDx until it breaks or there's a Treo on a carrier that covers my area better.

I'm posting this for 2 reasons -

1) what's a fair price for a used Visorphone?
2) to solicit ideas I may not have considered.

Thanks!

Kyocera 7135

Dont move on just yet. What Im planning to do is wait for the new Kyocera 7135 to be released.

This smart phone has a 16 bit screen, built in mp3 player, SD/MMC card slot, 16 mb of memory and available fast internet. Looks like a very kewl smart phone (way better than the treos in my opinion) you should check it out and get it when its released if your intrested.

Also, a new Treo is bound to come out sometime. I have a feeling Handspring is in the works of some new type of Treo. I have a Visor Prism and VPhone. I like it a lot, but ur right, I need to move on. But just be patient, something good will come out soon. Dont go spend money on a new cell phone.

Kyocera 7135

I've been waiting with baited breath for the Kyocera 7135. Does anyone know what the hold-up is?

I have the Prism/Digital Link combo, which I'm tiring of quickly. It's bulky and it's unstable. I have been unable to find a decent case for it. It locks up fairly often and I have to reset to recover. It's only single band, and my coverage is spotty at best. Plus, I have to remove the module to listen to my MP3s. (via my minijam) But, I do love having the ability to check my email and surf the web on my PDA.

I, too, love the PDA/phone combo but for me the Visor/Springboard combo just isn't "it". And I don't want the Treo because it, too, is only single band.

Question

Why doesn't Sony make a smartphone? Seems like they make awesome Palm powered PDA's - so why haven't they put a phone in one?

Im hoping that they do that too, but I dont think its going to happen. I say this because Sony is just making their regular cell phones more smarter (Ericsson P800) and making their PDA's for more entertaintment purposes like we see with their new Palm 5 powered device. So it doesent look that probable that a Sony palm powered smart phone will come in existance.

But who really knows other than Sony? As for me, Im just going to wait some more new smartphones to come out, then Ill think about replacing my Visor Prism/VisorPhone combo.
