Question

I called Innogear last week and I was told that the sixpak will be shipping at the end of October. Also I was told that pre-ordens are coming soon. How soon? I have to say that I've been saving money in not buying other modules because of the sixpak. I need it Now...

coming at the end of october... hmmm that means if all goes realy realy realy good we should have it by christmas.

InnoGear once they can start shipping modules they have the best modules, but it takes them a while to start shipping, if you know this and execpt it then all is well. you just have to learn to take all of that with a rather large grain of salt.

I know your pain. Like you, I haven't bought anything
for my Visor DX so I can afford the Six Pack.

Is it me or are most springboards not shipped as projected?

I would really be surprised if they did not learn something from the MiniJam shipping situation. I'll bet they will be more conservative with the sixpack. ...then again, we'll see.

I just visited Innogear's website, and can't access the Sixpak information. When you click on the Sixpak, it just kicks you back to their new home page.

Has anyone else noticed this?

At least you saw it, if you go to their website you will not see it... Probably they gave up on the sixpak or they might be creating a new page for pre-orders. Who knows?

six pack

There was no mention of Six Pack at all at the Innogear site this a.m. Is this product dead or delayed??? Or was it just too good to be true?

Innogear's Response

I sent them an email and got a response back today - within a couple of hours. It isn't detailed, but is reassuring. It goes as follows:

In the Middle of October. It will cost
Under 200.00. This is the only information
I have at this time. Revisit our website for

Looks like they finally updated their site. The Sixpack is back on their products page, but, of course, it just says "coming soon"...can't be soon enough for me!

Thumbs down

I would guess that you will be using that money on other Christmas presents because the 6-pack won't be here by Christmas....

Well, while I share the general sentiment of Slacker's post, I can't entirely agree with it. I'm as frustrated as anyone over the delay in the release of the SixPak. I went out and purchased a SpringPort recently because I got tired of waiting for it.

I also don't quite believe the "oh, its a component shortage" excuse. They have continuously overpromised and underdelivered.

However, I can't agree that "one year later no module from them" is accurate. I have the InnoPak 2/v, and it works great. I don't have the MiniJam (although I'm hoping to win one), but the reviews for it have been respectable - despite the fact that it's currently missing a few features that were originally promised.

If they deliver the SixPak this quarter, and it works as promised, I'll be inclined to forgive, but not forget. If not, well, bankruptcy will be too good for them.

I'm inclined to agree with you here. The fact the MiniJam shipped with features pulled from the software strongly implies that the software was the primary problem.

Question

Do you guys think $200 is a good price for the SixPak or maybe it's a little too high? If you think the price is good, don't you think we made a good decision in not buying other modules?

Will you buy the Sixpak if it cost more than $200?

I think I won't

You know, I held out for a year now... I bought my Handspring the first day (I think it was Sept. 22... ah, the headaches at had at that time) and there was an annoucement of the SixPack. I promised myself that if I ever was to buy a gift for myself and the pda, it would be the SixPack. The development of such an item is pure genius. The business model Innogear runs is pure disappointment. I sympathize with the moving industry and scare resources, but the details emitted from their PR departmet has been nothing. I don't have a vendetta, matter of fact I was still willing to buy one as of this past Wednesday. Until I walked into CompUSA and on a after much research picked up the SpringPort.

I couldn't be happier. Especially since I sabved over $100 and bought from a "brand-name" networking company.

Remember when Innogear wrote on this board and asked for cellphone models that we use? I don't have the link, but I have changed two models since then. How in the dark is their development considering their market data is over 5 months old? I debated to myself whether I feel for instant gratification or being in the right place at the right time, I still think that if it was a EightPack or TenPack, my SpringPort will always be better. (Of course, IMHO)

I'm with you, timmins. Since my Visor purchase was based largely on the Springboard slot AND the pending availability of the SixPak (we're talking January of this year), I've been patiently waiting for it to arrive. I did buy a SpringPort a week ago but have since returned it due to spotty performance and many resets. For the past week, I've been agonizing over the purchase of a Thinmodem. I can get it in a matter of days, but, I still long for the SixPak (or, even to so-called InnoPak 2/M they've been talking about).

All I want is a reliable modem and at least 2mb of flash storage. That way, I'll never really have to remove it from my Visor. If the Thinmodem had more flash, it would have been bought already!

If that's all you need then go with the Thinmodem. It's a modem and the new driver for it allows you to store programs in it's flash memory, I'm not sure though how much memeroy it has.

Remember when Innogear's website said "available October 2000" for the SixPak? I just realized it's October. Of course, now it says "coming soon" or something to that effect.

Talking Sixpak pre-orders coming up next week..!!

I've just spoke to one of the guys from Innogear over the phone and she told me that Innogear will be taking pre-orders by next week.

It looks like we will finally have our favorite module ready for shipping...!

Ummm... Not to burst your bubble or anything... I pre-ordered the MiniJam on 7/16 and received it last week... 2 1/2 months later.

Let me see. Next week + 2 1/2 months = End of December

Angry Bad News this time...

I'm sorry to tell you guys that Innogear hasn't change a bit. They keep doing business based on LIES. First it was Summer, them it was October and now they just told me that the Sixpak will on sale in one or two months from today. I guess NOW it is reasonable to get full of anger on those people.

I'm really mad at Innogear becasue they keep telling you different things everytime you call them. And their biggest Lie was when they told me that they will start taking pre-orders during this week. They even said that the SixPak will be on sale at the end of this month.

Lies and more Lies = Innogear
