Question Lithium Ion battery

Hi,

As a new Prism user I wonder if the rechargeable lithium ion battery needs special care, e.g. keep the Prism always in the cradle for charging when possible or just don't do that..?
Does this type of battery gets plagued by a "charge memory" and wear out faster when often recharged like rechargeable alkalines do?
Is it recommended to buy -if even possible- a spare battery?

Please advise..Thanks.

Dag Lex, Welkom op dit forum.

Helaas heb ik geen Prism dus ik kan je weinig over het geheugen effect van de batterij vertellen.

Heb je al een search gedaan?

Smile Landgenoten....

For the other forum-members: Excuse me/us for this Dutch intermezzo......

And yes...I'm still interested in any tips on the Prism battery...

Since I did not understand the previous conversation, I will attempt
to answer your question. The battery is better off if you continually
top it off. Don't let it run completely down. If you get a low battery
warning, charge it then.

Question Prospective Prism Purchaser

I bought my Platinum last August ever-so-shortly before they dropped the price. Since they've dropped the price on the Prism last year, I've somewhat regretted I didn't go for it. Every time I buy a program that has extensive color coding like ActionNames or SplashID I go through this. Now I'm using the HandCam and ThinkdB among other things and I'm thinking of upgrading. Especially after a surprise bonus from work that would cover the bulk of it...

One of the things that turned me away from the Prism was the rechargable battery. I like the option of replacing the battery on the fly with something you can get anywhere. I've seen the BattPlug and would probably head that way. But being a power user with my Platinum I'm using it all the time - Avantgo, Thinkdb, Wordsmith. SOMETHING has got me adding to and/or updating things I track in it all the time. SO I'd be charging daily if not MORE so. Question: HOW easy is it to replace the battery in a Prism should it fail to keep a charge. I've heard some users say two years, but power users less than half that. I've heard others say that you have to send the unit to HS to replace the battery? Can anyone confirm or offer options? I don't see the problem with replacing a battery. (Frankly I hope that if they do future units with such a battery that it is a replacable module - to avoid just this nonsense).

The battery should be available at places that sell cordless phone
batteries. It is just a battery pack that plugs in. You shouldn't
have a problem with your usage. I've had mine over a year and
have not noticed a degradation in holding a charge. I am a heavy
user and work 12 hour shifts and have not had a warning yet.

Talking Well I did it...

I'm trying to sync up my New Prism as I type, here. Just got it today - CompUSA and Best Buy both had their PDAs on sale -- got it over there for $284.69

Got the replacement plan --- If I DO wear out the battery, I should be able to get a replacement unit...
