PalmVNC with Xircom 802.11b module

Hi,
I'm a freshman in college and the whole idea of wireless internet is sort of new to me. I'm looking to buy a Xircom Springport Wireless LAN Module for my Visor Prism ($100 isn't too bad for a notebook wireless card, let alone for the visor...and it has a good deal of coolness factor.) I'm wondering if anyone has used this solution with PalmVNC as a method of controlling a desktop computer. If I could have access to my desktop from my Visor anywhere on our network, I'd definitely be sold.

Has anyone tried this setup?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Yes, this works just fine with the 802.11b Springboard module. I have been doing it at my home for months. It really serves no practical purpose for me, so I wait until my wife is on the computer, and the I log into VNC and start moving her mouse and opening programs. It drives her nuts until she realizes it is me.

I also use VNC when I go out of town to access info on my home PC. I use my modem for the connection out of town, though.

Have fun with your new module! Just be aware that "11Mbs" is a myth. I can't get any data transferred any faster than my dialup modem...

Doug

I don't need 11mbps, I just want to be able to check my Folding@Home clients and my DC++ downloads from across campus during the day. I can deal with even rather severe lag for my purposes.
