Springboard slot being deprecated?

I notice with some concern that Handspring is releasing a new organizer (not communicator) under the Treo name. Not only does it not have a Springboard slot, but it has an SD/MMC slot. Does this mean that Springboard will no longer be available in new handhelds? What sort of hardware expansion does Handspring plan to offer? Are we going to start seeing cradle-style attachments like what Palm users have to use?

I went with Handspring initially because they offered hardware expansion and good support for the module community. I'm concerned that they don't seem to be exuding that same strong support any more, and that they're diluting and diversifying their product line to the point of confusion and uselessness.

also where does that leave www.visorcentral.com and www.treocentral.com ?

To date, the treo discussion boards have naturally focused mainly on the communicator functions of the treo. If I have a Treo 90 where do I go? The answer may well be found in thetreo 90 board, but could equally be found in a visorcentral board.

I used to love being able to read the experiences of all users through the "getnew" links and there's been countless times where the help hasn't been where I expect it! Now that the site is firmly split between visor and treo, the site is far less enjoyable!
