Question

I performed a successful hot synch between my Visor and G3, now I can't do it again, and the cradle doesn't even show 'green' on te USB hub. What happened?

I am also having big time difficulties synching to my Imac DV edition. I guess I should have stuck with my Palm. Never had this problem before. Anyway try disabling and then re-enabling the hotsynch manager. Works about 75% of the time when I try. So far this discussion board and Handspring tech support have not helped a bit. I am trying Apple support in the am. If once again unsuccesful will ship it back..

Try resetting the Visor. That seems to clear up many sync problems.

Currently the only way I have been able to make my visor synch is to uninstall the Mac's palmdesktop that came on the Imac then install the Handspring version the reinstall the IMac version which results in succesful synch approx 75% of the time but causes the visor to soft reset after each synch.

tkmalan,

Why aren't you just using the HS version of Palm desktop? I was under the impression that they had tweaked it to work with the visor and that 3Com versions wouldn't work as well...which is what you are seeing.

Otherwise, how do you like your DV? I've been contemplating getting one.

Question

A bit off topic and perhaps obtuse, but here's my question:

I've never synched before -- still waiting on serial cradle to go with my Mac Performa.
I've already scrawled lots of addresses, dates, etc. in my Visor. Here comes the really dumb part . . .
Is there any chance of my blank Visor desktop software erasing my Visor's info? Does it know to "import" rather than "export"?

Thanks,
Jon

Ah, Zenwave speaks again!

Ok...when I right-click on the Install/HotSync Icon, it has an option labled -CUSTOM- in which I can chose on each major hotsync (mail, applications, avantgo etc) whether the handheld overrides the system, or the system overrides the handheld, or to synch (make them the same without deleting)...

In some cases (ie: I edited my Outlook contacts to perfection via computer) I wanted the system to ovewrite the handheld... But it is always user configurable.

I also use an application called Backup Buddy that -just in case- the synch goes bad, I have a complete backup of everything to restore it to as it should be... It backs my stuff up after every synch (though this seems to add some time to a synch)
