Talking Electro Medical Research steals InnoGear Website!

Take a look at this website - they copied Innogears website and put in their content! Either they love innogear or cant afford to create their own site?

I don't know, I think it's different enough.
Plus it has a lot of flash going on in it, which innogear doesn't.

I have done a few websites, and certain color schemes are popular at different times. I have seen the turquoise/orange quite a bit lately. It's considered 'modern.'

As for the layout, it's pretty textbook. This is one of my favorites for technical products, because there's always alot of text necessary for explanations and it's important to separate it in an visually intuitive manner.

The title bar is similar but doesn't bother me.

Actually, I found both sites to be easy to read, and navigate, plus informative. I will finish reading them both after this post.

"Where's the beef?"

Are you saying you would have liked it in different colors? Navy/Red like their logo?
Or without the title bar?

Well, I think a company should not pick another company in the SAME industry a basically copy it. It just makes a company look very unprofessional when they cant figure out their own website look, colors and image but instead they go to some other company and take their image, colors, buttons etc....

As they're not identical, it may be a coincidence.
But using the same orange is suspicious.

You have got to be blind to not see that they basically copied it(meaning they designed theres to look like it) The blue bar on the top even has little verticle lines going through it - they have the Headlines (Same title) in the same location - website is same colors - same round nav bars, same style people on the top left corner -- I think the chances of this happening by chance are about the same as winning a lottery.

I just think it is cheesy and makes a company look really bad to do something like that! I would be embarrassed if I did that and everyone saw it.

I agree

I agree - it is way too close for comfort - the chances are very slim that it happend by chance or maybe their webmaster had a vision in the middle of the night with that design.
I guess Innogear can take it as a compliment. I wonder if they have seen it ?

You know I was just wondering... I don't use Frontpage(Dreamweaver is my choice) but could this be a template of theirs.

That would explain alot...

Thats possible but webmasters or creators would almost never do that - they get paid to create a NEW image for a company or create on the internet the companies image. Even if it was Innogears webmaster who created this one - that would be more of a reason for him or her NOT to do anything that is close to Innogears site...I mean you would then think that innogear would get mad.??

Thumbs up they emailed me!

this is the email,

Dan,
We are a small company and need to verify funds availability before commiting the orders to our contract manufacturers. Just a minimum number of insufficient funds at the time of shipment at this stage could potentially effect our supply lines. We do what's called in the industry "just in time delivery". I hope you understand and will bear with us during this stage of growth we are currently at. Your 30 day money back guarantee doesn't start until your unit ships.
Thanks,
Bruce Gelerter

I am willing to except this, and I will post my thoughts and opinions when I get the unit. Hey imagine a minijam/gammawave/screenshow module
retrotechno 60's without the lsd

A number of webmasters, creators, and designers are paid to do what they're asked to do, usually at the site owner's direction or specific request. EMR (or any company) wants to convery a certain image

The source code of EMR's site reveals the URL of the design company's website. It's a bit more professional-looking than the EMR site, but I'm not sure if it's one person or a team of designers. Innogear's site may have been created in-house.

It's entirely possible that EMR directed the designer to make it similar to InnoGear's, and it's possible that IG could make a case out of this if they chose to. Though one hopes not, all things considered.

'IF' EMR had asked the design firm to make a site that looks like Innogear's site, than both parties are to blame. A design firm should be fully aware of copyright issues and plagiarism.

Furthermore, rarely, if ever, does one benefit from having their web site and/or marketing materials look like another company, unless they are intentionally trying to associate themselves with the other company...which is where innogear may take offense and decide to take legal action.

The innogear is a much better site in so many ways. The EMR site is a very sloppy emulation.

People can be lazy.. there is no rule saying that all web designers/web masters are not clueless to copyright laws, plagiarism, and general good taste, you would hope, but there is no "rule"!
