I am a teenager and I use my Visor for school mostly. I have eBooks, and other school related software, I have been thinking about a standalone mp3 player since the first RIO came out, however for price reasons I decided aginst one of them, and I got my visor insted. When I heard about the MiniJam I had to have one. I have not orderd one yet because I don't have the money, however I figure by the time that I have the money they will be on stock at my local store.

In the mean time I have one question about the storage system of the miniJam, how dose it work, will it work like the exepansion flash card, or will it work more like the TRGpro's use of the compact Flash slot?
in other words, when I insert the mini jam in to my visor and put Palm apps on the MMC cards do the appear in my lancher or do I have to move them on to visor ram before i can access them? Would could you read eBooks while they are in the MiniJam's memory.?

I've used a Rio PMP 300 for as long as it has been out, and it's come time to replace it. Not only doesn't it not support my Mac, but it has so little mem.

I looked at the MiniJam. It uses MMC cards, or Multimedia, i think, by Scandisk. These are cheaper ,smaller, and more rugged then the SmartMedia that most Mp3 players use. However, it's slower. Not a big deal, I hear. The MiniJam has 2 MMC slots, and no internal mem. I have no idea how the software works, or how the desktop software works. It does, however, work without the Visor on or the Palm OS software open, but it pulls it's power from the Visor.

After a carefull look at the numbers, i'm upgrading to a Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox. I saw this monster at Macworld NY, and man, do I want one.It has a internal 6 GB harddrive and audio enhansement hardware all contained in something about the size of a CD player. I'm done messing around with flash memory.

Fine choice, I get 10 bucks a week for chores and the like, and 10 extera if i do lawn work, plus what ever i can scrape up on the web. If i could do that I would but, the mini Jam is an PalmOS storage disk as well as mp3 player, I would have to buy both and my budget dosen't allow that.
