Treo killer is out !!!
By: mgauss @ 07:50 AM
The new Palm T3 with its AMAZING crisp 320 x 480 screen has changed everything.
We talk about Treos but please do not go visit a Palm T3 out at the store. You will not believe your eyes.
What has happened is that in the YEARS since the Treo 300/270 came out, now the T3/Bluetooth phone (such as Sprint's October t608 sexy little Sony) gives you the best of both worlds.
The Treo 600 has become the ultimate compromise and looks ridiculous IF you put it next to a Palm T3.
In our minds we think of the Treo 600 as "the next step."
If you look at that next step and compare its 160x160 to the gloriously bright and huge crisp 320 x 480 T3 screen, it will be like comparing a Japanese "coffin" hotel to a Hilton Suite.
Convergence got to be too much of a sacrifice. Just too much lost.
Hey, don't feel bad, Palm still gets all the business!
I think 2 years ago the Treo 300/270 made sense, because the alternative was not really that much different. But now it is too painfully obvious.

Have you held BOTH phones in your hands, or does your opinion based on pictures you have seen?
In any event, despite disagreeing with you, here are pictures and article on the Palm T3...

Look at it this way:
160 x 160 = 25,600
320 x 480 = 153,600
153,600 / 25,600 = 6 times the info on the screen!!
You could say that The T3 is 6 times the Palm than the Treo 600 in terms of:
Word, excel, pictures, movies, "thinking, planning, visualizing"
Sure to make a phone call you do not need 153,600 pixels. In fact you only need a small phone!!

I've used and IPAQ for some time and tired of the stylus based entry, i've had my 270 for about a month and have come to love that keyboard, can't imagine graffiti BS again or pecking w/ a stylus PITA
People laugh at that puny keyboard, until they try it w/ the thumbs, then they go "I guess, maybe"

I had the t3 for approx. 2weeks, then sold it to get the t600. The t3 was hands down the best palm pda I have owned to date. The t600 is the best palm smartphone I have owned to date. I have owned the t300, the g1000, hp2215, nx70v. I'm sticking with the t600 for awhile. Although, I told myself that when I bought the t300 and the t3 just 2 weeks ago.

I still fail to see how you can compare the T3 with any Treo. The T3 has no radio, does it? Yea it's a great PDA, so are the Sony Clis. But unless I can drop a sim card in it, you can't compare it to even a Treo 180!

If I see another smart phone with a dial pad...
By: mgauss @ 06:36 PM
It is amazing how all new wonderful smart phones have a stupid worthless 10 digit dialpad.
Why don't they put in a keyboard like the Treos?
Originally I wanted a "2 device solution." I've come to realize that "one handed operation" is really the only operation possible when one is "outside."
Out side the house one is always moving...with hands busy...how are you going to input characters with a 10 digit dialpad?
The system has to be in one hand, and one needs a thumboard.
All these smart phones without a keyboard send one to grafitti or to pecking with two hands, which don't work in the real world.

T-9? Do it all the time. Probably more accurately than with a tiny thumb board too.
