Best movies of 2001?

ok.. here I am watchign Jurassic Park on NBC right now (can you belive I've never seen it before?!?!?) and I was thinking. This eyar has like a ton of really good movies coming out. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Shrek, Juraasic Park 3, etc..etc.. What do you think is or will be the greatest movie of 2001? I'm going for HP, or something else. - I really myself don't have much to say right now, it's up to the rest o the people. JP 3's trailer (right now on) is unbliaveble.

BTW - This is my 1 thousandth post. 1000!

I know it may sound crazy, but I really think that Harry Potter will be HUGE. If WB screws this up, they have some serious problems. That is not to say it will be the best movie of 2001, but I definately believe it will be the biggest.

Jurassic Park III, no thanks. After they butchered Lost World, I just do not have the heart to sit through another one.

My vote definately goes to "The Fast and the Furious". JUST KIDDING...

I have high hopes for the Lord of the Rings. I was really into the books - when I wasn't much younger than Miradu. Seriously, the stuff I've seen on the web looks really good.

I hope Harry Potter's good too - I liked the books to a surprising degree, given the fact that they were pitched at a target audience about twenty years younger than me.

I am completely with you on the Harry Potter thing. My wife wanted to know what all the fuss was about, so she bought the first book and read it. Then, she had me read it to see what I thought. Both of us really like them and have read all four books. I think they are extremely well written and it is a great story.

IMHO this has been one of the worst years for movies (and will remain so) since the mid-80s. There has only been one good american film so far this year: Panic. A few from outside the USA (Amores Perros & Sexy Beast). The Oscars are gonna be dreadful.

Yesterday I saw The Score. What a piece of poo.

Scary Movie 2, no not the best, hell I havn't even seen it yet.

Swordfish was good.

JP3 will totally suck.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was good probabally could have been a little better.

Rush Hour 2 looks good.

The Jackie Chan that came out was good for the Kung Fu but not much else.

I could go on but it is too late and I am tired and should sleap because I get up to f'in early . . .

I think numbers wise, Jurassic Park III will be the biggest of the summer. But IMHO the best of the year would have to be Snatch .. I love that movie.

except it was released last year. same with crouching tiger, which someone else mentioned.

what on earth did you like about swordfish?! this movie had NO redeeming qualities whatsoever. only good thing about it is that smart people will bring a good book and get some reading done.

I liked the action, I am a sucker to bad movies with lots of action and high tech gizmos. I will admit it wasn't the best movie I have ever seen but it wasn't as bad as A.I. which was slow and boring. Also Traffic could be in the running.

Scary Movie 2 was hilarious, funnier than the first one.

American Pie 2 also comes out this summer and I imagine it will be very funny too.

It has been a fantastic year for 3-d animation. Shrek was great and I haven't been able to see Final Fantasy yet but the graphics alone make it a breakthrough.

Lord of the Rings looks like it could be good.

Memento was the best movie this year so far IMO. I don't think it got a lot of publicity, but it was a movie that really made you think.

I can't remember any others at the moment.

edit: fixed "Memento"

It was a great movie, but it's spelled Memento.
