I've got that problem found on the Visor Test and was told yesterday by a Handspring custserv lady that the patch would be ready by 1 week. I know many of you waited longer than this but I thought initially the patch was to be ready by July 15?

I also contacted Handspring via email and received the same response. The only difference is they said it should be ready in mid to late July. Although I'm still very pleased with the product, I think we are seeing the drawback to a non-flashable operating system. Palm and TRG already have a fix on there web sites.

Exclamation

Actually, Palm does not have a patch out for the IIIxe yet. Also, I don't think that flash memory has anything to do with it. TRG released a whole new OS version to counter the problem, but I thought I read on one of the Palm newsgroups that the Vx patch doesn't go into flash memory anyway.

Cool

For those of you getting frustrated waiting...I was having problems with my blue deluxe for months. Every time I called with the problem (3 times), I was told it was probably some software conflict. Never was I offered a replacement. When the news of the faulty chip came out, of course mine tested positive. When I called Handspring, they told me they were not offering exchanges and that the fix would be released on the first of July. When I called back on July 3rd, they told me mid to end of July. At that point, I requested an exchange and they sent me a new one overnight. When I asked if it would be a refurb, the rep told me no and that it would not contain the faulty chip. So, don't be afraid to call and ask for a replacement if you are still dealing with you Visor crashing!

GRrr I am thinking of doing just that. I had to hard reset my Visor because of a continuous fatal error recently--maybe it's related, maybe it's not. But I do get a big amount of fatal errors. Now I have to start over app wise. I wonder how hard it would be to get them to do this..

JCD3: How long did it take for your replacement to arrive? Also, are you sure you got a new one (not a refurb unit)? I was told by Handspring that they would only send refurb units.

Cool

My replacement is allegedly going to be a new one. Of course, I was also within my 30-day money-back period when I called. It was supposed to ship either Thurday or Friday of last week. Haven't received it yet. Maybe they're only doing refurbs on normal warranty service? YMMV.
