Question

I have seen the Franklin cases for the palms and really like the design. Does anyone know how well the Visor fits?

I just bought one (Compact Size with 6-ring binder) for my visor and I like it a lot. I wish it was a little cheaper, even with my 20% discount (the Franklin Covey place here offered the discount to employees of my company). The list price is about $100.

It fits the visor pretty well. I usually don't use it while it's in my planner though; I usually remove first. If there's a FC store new you, just bring your visor and test fit in the store, just to make sure.

The only complaint I would have (other than the price) would be that I wish it would lay flatter when opened. The binding has a lot of leather so it doesn't want to stay open.

Let me know if you have any other questions about it.

A lot of thought and work went into this one.

Snowtrill,
If your not real fussy about the color of the case you might check out what your local Franklin/Covey store has on sale. At my local (well, 45 minutes away) they had a couple of last years models on sale for $39-$69 last week when I stopped in. They were the cases that also have the rings for paper planner filling.

Before I got my IVX I carried my life in my DayTimer. I had a great zippered, looseleaf binder that was about the size of a paperback (would slip easily into a jacket pocket) and in which I could carry my calendar, pix of my family, business cards, checkbook, etc.

When I got the IVX I ordered the "pocket" sized Franklin binder that was the same style as my DayTimer. When it arrived I discovered that even though there was room to have standard spacing, they had spaced the looseleaf rings closer than "normal" so that nothing but the few accessories they sell would fit! Plus, I was so infuriated with the ordering/billing fiasco I encountered that I fired off an angry email. The result of that was that they sent me a "compact" size binder, with ring-spacing that fits accessories from DayTimer, et al.

The "pocket" binder held the Visor very snugly, the problem was that there was little room for anything else, even if there was anything else to put in it! The "compact" binder is MUCH looser, to the point where the Visor can and does fall out if the binder is open and tips that direction! There is much more room to hold other stuff, but there's also the problem of the "stuff" pressing against the keys! I've often heard the tell-tale sign of pressure against the keys once it's zipped up. One time it even caused me to have to do a soft-reset!

Currently I'm of a mixed mind about the Franklin binder situation. I still need the flexibility of having stuff like my checkbook all in one handy place - but the compact binder is MUCH larger than the pocket and doesn't hold the Visor very securely when opened. The pocket is a very handy size, but doesn't hold anything BUT the Visor and whatever specialized papers I want to buy from FC.

For the time being I use the compact Franklin during the week, back and forth to the office, etc, and also when I'm out in a situation where I might need what I carry in it. When I'm just bopping around on the weekend, or know I won't need the checkbook, I pop the Visor into my Rhodiana and I'm off.

BTW - I checked on the DayTimer binders that you can find at Staples, etc, and they are FAR inferior to the quality of either of the FC binders I've got, and seem to have far less room as well.
